Hi all,

I have a wii that has had this history:

nintendo updated to 3.4
installed hbc w twilight hack, updated to latest hbc but never installed bootmii
downgraded to 3.3, installed cios36rev7 and cios 254 updates since then

I've read the the 4.2 upgrade, but I was wondering if it's necessary to do all that and if the following will get me where I want to be (4.1 so I can save wiiware to SD)

install bootmii as boot2 to make a nand backup
use dopios-mod to install IOS60-v6174
run waninkoko updater 4.1

Thanks so much!

Install system menu 4.1 through dop-ios can always update IOS's that way also

I see, and by "Install system menu 4.1 through dop-ios" you mean that I should find out what is included in the system menu and install it by hand, or is 60 really all that the system menu is?

Wouldn't like to get a in a weird state of a 4.1 version of 60 and 3.3 versions of everything else

you can go through all the IOS's and update them as installed versions(upper right) and available versions for installed are displayed(lower left) IOS60 and then 4.1 is all needed

Sorry, one more question. If I install ios60, the wii will start using that automatically? Do I have to make sure I have ios50 mothballed before rebooting?

Is there danger of having both unmothballed versions of ios50 and 60 installed at a boot?

I will probably be wrong about some of these things, but these are my reasons:

4.2's update seemed hectic and unnecessarily big
I just don't get why a total of 22 ios' need to be installed
I don't see why I am installing HBC & bootmii twice
Why I need bannerbomb if I already have all the hbc i want and run the risk of losing my hbc, no matter how safe the guide is.

I feel a little out of control with the guide, it has some big steps that I don't really follow why

It just includes everything you need for near 100% compatibility.

This allows hbc to run off newer IOS once you have updated.

You wont lose hbc?!

Take a leap. It's really not that "big". It takes about 5 mins.

Haha, allright Kiiwii, I've made a successful back up yesterday and I have some time tonight, so I'll do the full 4.2 guide and report back if I'm a believer.

hard to define, it seems the cursor is moving a little less smooth and there are slightly longer loading times
