So, people are somehow getting Odyssey earlier than intended. YouTube and Twitter are being spammed with spoilers so if you don't want to spoil the game any, stay away from the spoilers! YouTube already has videos of the Final Boss and Ending and all boss battles, along with parts of the game we haven't seen in trailers!

Was there ever times when people don't get the game early? o_o

Anyway, I hope watching someone play will help me decide to buy once and for all. I never had a big attachment to 3D mario games, just 2D ones.

So they are getting the physical game from some where .. I wonder where?
Gamestores that already received them but are not allowed to sell, some employees can (secretly) buy it then. Friend of mine works at a gamestore, if I'm lucky I can get it wednesday:D

I saw someone have leaked all bosses as well. Sad that someone want to ruin it already. Nintendo is probably firing away DMCA takedowns as we speak.

Oh that's really shit! I wish I had not seen this thread tbh I would not of known then :( I cannot help myself but look at the videos.. I wander if Simply Games have sent it out very early, they usually do and its possible. I have received all my Switch games at least 3 days earlier than the release date from them so far but this time around I didn't order it from SG's I thought of just popping to Smyths Toy Store instead, its only down the road and the price is not a real difference I wish I had now.

They could of done it to any other game for all I care but this one, why! :gun:asshole youtuberz "bastards"
What precisely are they going to spoil, or indeed cause to possibly percolate up into general conversation where you might not avoid it unlike actively having to watch a video, which will so impact your enjoyment of a Mario game? You tell me there is a level in mario sunshine where you ride a roller coaster shooting a giant boss and I will look forward to it, tell me Aeris dies mid game in Final Fantasy 7* and you will have a) made me realise why it follows the patterns of so many similar games and gives you the ultimate weapons and abilities so far in advance of everybody else and b) possibly robbed a later scene of some poignancy. Barring certain kinds of run and music hack then the fun of mario is in the doing for near everybody I ever met, not the watching which is in contrast to quite a few other games.

*normally I don't feel the need to justify things but there's a limit on these things and 20 years of a fairly well known event, one satirised countless times since, gets there for me. If I have however ruined the upcoming remake for you then good.

Oh no, what horrible news. Guess there is no reason to play it now since others got to play it early.

Guess you shouldn't ever see a movie either, since lots of people see those before they come out.

So you don’t consider putting YouTube videos up of the final boss stage in numbers is not spoiling the game???

Not for any Mario/mario family platform game I have yet seen or played, and this one has given no indication of being any different beyond the uncanny valley visual design.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
