So my old 3ds started to have this problem that, when I try to use wireless connection in ds mode (for example, ds download play, or when I try to configure wi-fi settings on ds mode) the console gets stuck on screen and appears to freeze, but it doesn't freeze since it still allows me to press the home button to exit to the home menu, but it doesn't seem to load any wireless related stuff. Games that require wirelles also get stuck when trying to use wireless connections (like local play on New super mario bros.), and some doesn't boot at all since they give error as soon as the game starts (like Pokemon platinum for example).
I've tried to make them work either by loading them via Twilight menu, by flashcard, by forwarder and even by using the original cartridges for the games I have and they just don't seem to work.

The weirdest thing of this all is that wireless connections on 3DS mode work like normal, and the console does connect to internet and allows me to play wireless only on 3ds games like pokemon X, but for DS games this doesn't seems to be the case, I have no idea why, but the issue seems to be affecting only games and configurations for the original ds.

I've seen other users post a similar problem to mine and they doesn't seem to have found a solution, so I don't expect it to be solved sanytime soon, but any help or suggestions would be apreciated, my 3ds has been modded all the way back from 2015 and I've never experienced any issue of this kind. If you want more detail of what my problem is, the user @phoenixugur posted a thread with videos on his problem and is exactly the same problem I have.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe(?) related to NVRAM??
@zoogie Didn't you have a tool for cleaning/repairing NVRAM contents? I vaguely remember something about bricked DS mode unrelated to the TWL titles requiring such a thing.

If this is related to NVRAM it won't affect 3DS mode – only DS(i) mode.
==========

You could also plug in another WiFi board from an O3DS not having this problem and see if this solves the issue.

Thanks for the reply! I have checked and it seems to be NVRAM related, I already tried using TWLfix then updating and it didn't work, tomorrow I'll try doing a NVRAM flash method I saw and see if that works, I will also check it the wifi card is the problem but I don't think so since I have had already problems before with the wifi card detaching from the motherboard and that usually affects both ds and 3ds wireless communications, nevertheless it is worth trying

PM me and I'll walk you through that process. I'm the developer of the NVRAM flashing tool.

Thank you all for replying!, and for those that offered help thank you as well, I was able to solve the issue today, turns out that it was indeed a hardware problem, I think that the wi-fi card got somehow loosened up from the motherboard and that was causing the issue, i simply removed it, cleaned it with alcohol, then put it back, and that solved the problem!

I have experienced that issue before quite a few times, but back then all console communications were broken up (both ds and 3ds connections, the console wouldn't even last more than 5 seconds without crashing on the home menu), it had never happened to me that ONLY the ds connections were broken while the 3ds ones remained intact, didn't even knew that was possible, that's why I tought that it was a sofware problem but luckily it wasn't.

Anyway, thanks again for the help!

After your topic, I checked my wi-fi card too. There was some oxidation and corrosion on the socked. Unfortunately, some metal was eaten and I could not fix my issue. I need soldering to replace the eaten metal.
