From what I can tell, there isn't much difference between demo and retail save file, so I believe it will work
The only thing needed is the titleID to rename the config files
Then we can try running it and see if it can read the correct values

Matched mine, was able to edit it from that address no problem. I am just doing the prologue of the first character though.

You can edit item amount too if you have at least two of the item and just compare two save files with the different values. The inventory doesn't seem to all be together in the hex file so you can just do it for multiple items and write down values if you want to do more than one item.

for item I think it's easier to edit them with @SleepyPrince 's template file for 010 Editor?

I had 112416 money, which is the hex 0001B720. Byte inversion makes that be 20 B7 01 00. So far so good. But as I replaced that with 7F 96 98 (the inverted hex value for 9,999,999) the problems began.
Saved, injected, opened game and loaded save. Game crashed. I could however normally load my autosave.
probably a 00 has to be added in my specific case to the 7F 96 98. Question is just if I have to add it prior or after. My guess is after. Sigh.
Yes, I totally could just do that myself by trial and error. But I'd like that to be discussed here for future viewers of this thread.

Nah, you shouldn't have 8 digits in your hex value. Don't need to append 00 in your case. Your money equals 01b720, which is 20 B7 01 in the savegame. Replace that with FF FF FF. This is invalid in game but will reset to 9,999,999 once you spend some money.
What you did was replace 8 hex values with 6 and that broke your savegame.

btw, you don't need to convert the numbers and search in hexa value, just try to search in "integer number" in HxD and it will find the value in hexa reversed.

yah, i was surprised too when i tried to search for halos in bayonetta 2 save file, it also works when you search for a value in Save Wizard MAX (PS4 save editor).

I changed my mind 20 hours into the game, and I really want to swap my first pick out of the team.

I know there is a lot of people restarting their savedata for this same reason

I don't think that's possible.
Also it does absolutely not matter story-wise, you just can't replace him in the team until you completed his four chapters.
So, if that main char is really bugging you that much, go clear his story first.

Just joined this forum to learn about savegame editing. Just a total noob but would like to know how to increase money in octopath traveler.

Firstly, I need to run homebrew? So can i get the xcecuter pro and install it?

After that i should just extract save file?

Most importantly, will my account or switch be banned by hacking a save file?
