Hacking Noobie question.... 3.4 to 4.0

i have a wii thats running on 3.4, i want to update to 4.0 so that i can use the sd card feature to install wads on it... but if i update now ill have 4.2 which i dont want, and if i do update would it keep all the hacks on my wii?

Use nusad http://gbatemp.net/t207126-nus-auto-downloader-for-windows . It will generate a guide and download all the files you need and keep all your hombrew.

1. If you are making a nintendo update you will have 4.3
2. 4.0 has a bug, so update to 4.1

3. Use DOP-Mii to install the new system menu:
Start it, choose IOS36 to install other IOSes, go to System Menu, select System Menu 4.1 ,press plus to install it, and choose Download from NUS (I think your wii has internet?) That's it

Use my way with dop-mii, it will install 4.1.

the very first reply is seriously all you need. NUSAD asks you what version you are on, what version you want, and creates an appropriate guide and downloads all the files you need.
