Hacking noob question. hbc and wad manager. wii u

I got this question. i just recently install the smash softmod, that insall my homebrew channel. Will this brick the vwii or wii u? i havent install any custom iso yet. anyway on second question that i have in mind. if i want to install some wad game, or use the wad manager to install the wad. do i need to install any custom iso in order to play wad game or wad manager to work. thank you for your time.
