Real noob question - please help, it should be an easy one to answer.
I just downloaded MPlayer CE v.76, and I'd like to set up the SMB feature. My entire K drive on my computer is shared, and I'd like to be able to access it via the Wii. How do I go about doing this? I'm hoping it's just a quick tweak of the SMB.conf file in mplayer's app folder, but I don't know exactly what I need to change or what to set it to. I had previously used an old xbox with XBMC installed to stream media, but the xbox is no longer with me. Thanks in advance!
Try this http://code.google.com/p/mplayer-ce/wiki/Configs

Already looked at that page and tried some settings - I'm not quite sure what to change though. I changed the ipl value on the first group to match my computer's settings, but it didn't do anything. What other settings do I need to adjust...and do I just set them to the drive letter (k), or do I need to narrow it down to a specific folder? Thanks again.

Here's my smb config

#Samba share1 (smb1:/)
ip1=192.168.1.102
share1=wii
user1=
pass1=

I have no password for windows so I leave it blank

Still nothing...I've double checked the IP, and I've tried a number of different things for the share1 value - the drive letter, names of folders contained on the drive...I just keep getting an error message. Oh well...I'm off to bed for now; I'll try messing around with this more another time.

One question, my friend just got a new wii, and when he took it to a store, they deemed it "unmodable", they would neither soft not hardmod it. I understand that it might have the new drive which won't read backups (that's what I gathered from reading some posts) but it still will work with usbloading, is that right?

If so, then should he just install HBC, TBR, Cios and the usbloader? will he be able to dump games from the drive to the hdd or will he have to stick to getting them from the pc to the hdd?

some pointers would be appreciated,thanks

Thanks! It worked to get it in color, but I still get strange text instead of Japanese characters. Do you (or anyone else) know how to fix that as well?
try to change the language set to japanese in its configuration.

All wii's are modable read this guide http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=171901 it has everything you'll need to know to mod the wii

If he has one of the new drives they'll have to use the pc to put the games onto the hard drive as the drive wont read any burned disk's

Of course you can

Alright, I've got a quick question to toss out. I just modded a friends wii using the "mod any wii 4.2 or below" sticky and it worked great. I upgraded my system at the same time (from 3.2) up to 4.2, brought 249, 250, 202, etc. up to the latest revs, and put priiloader on. I'm running into a problem on my Wii though.

When I power up with my USB HDD attached I end up with a black screen, nothing at all.

If I power up w/ the USB disconnected, it boots fine. Any ideas as to why a system won't boot clean w/ a USB HDD plugged in?

I have a softmodded 3.3U. I want to access the Shop Channel to download the Internet Channel but can't access it until I do a System Menu update. If I just follow the "Update" section of http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=171901 will I be okay?
Just use WiiSCU to update only the Shop Channel

alright, got a question here.

got a wii, on 4.1e hardmodded with wiiclip+D2pro9, if memory serves right its a dc2c drive. there is the occasional ntsc game that doesnt load through the disc channel(black screen or eject disc, turn wii off, check user guide e.t.c). instead i have to go through Gecko/GeckOS, after going from 3.2 to 4.1 i have to load the games through geckOS 1.07b, and then change my tv freq. when before updating to 4.1 it'd work no worries. heck gecko 1.9.x doesn't even load the games properly. is there anyway to load these directly through the disc channel or even a channel/app so i dont have to change the frequency all the time?

I did change the boot up language to Japanese, but that did not work. Any other suggestion?

Hi all, I'm back again.

I need advice on burning and playing SSBB on a Softmodded Wii.

I'm on the latest version of the Homebrew channel.
My IOS is IOS61.
I use the latest NeoGamma and when I load that it says its running off IOS249.
I'm using the latest cIOS also.

I have a full, working version of SSBB. I use ImgBurn to burn the .iso with a layer break of 2084960 to a Verbatim DVD+R DL disk.

However, I still can't get the game to work. What am I doing wrong? Do I need a different IOS / cIOS? Do I need a different type of disc?

I appreciate the help I'll (hopefully) receive. If not, I'll just have to start a new topic.

What cIOS did you install? cIOS rev14 and rev16 are not compatible with DL discs. Install rev17.

I did this. As I said, I have the latest cIOS.

I get the Disc Read Error 1048, whatever that means.

Nobody ever had this issue?

Another thing, just tried powering up w/ HDD plugged in, black screen again, but if I unplug the HDD it boots to system menu fine. Tried holding reset to get into priiloader on powerup w/ hdd plugged in and got a black screen, but unplugging the HDD got me into priiloader fine.

Any ideas what to try to fix it?
