ok, how can i tell if my new wii can install bootmii in boot2?
so i run the hackmii installer, which gives me the homebrew channel and dvdx and bootmii as a ios and boot2. does it tell me if it can't install to boot2? and, does it 'hurt' my wii by trying and failing to install?

also, if i am on 4.1E, and i want to swap to 4.1J, i run any region changer, and put everything to japanese.
is this correct? will the systems channels, like shop etc, be japanese too? or will i have to use some thing to convert them seperately?
thanks, ifyfg

Alright so im using a 3.3u (first release of the 3.3 not the homebrew blocking 3.3) Launch Wii with Homebrew Channel on it ive installed the one cIOS originally needed to play burned games the cIOS (or is it mIOS) needed to play burned Gamecube games and cIOS rev 10 needed to play games off of USB (recently updated to cIOS rev 14) and ive done nothing else to the system no wads no preloader or bootmii.

I want to update my Wii to 4.2 so i get SD Card support for VC games and so i can connect to the Shop Channel and buy Mario RPG and Super Mario Kart (And if the gaming blogs are any indication Super Smash Brothers is due before years end) and a couple other games (i pirate stuff but not VC games the publishers deserve my money for making the greatness that is the Virtual console and them releasing their games to it i love the retro classics).

Now ive seen a bunch of guides that do all sorts of installs and steps and wads but i want just the bare necessity to be updated but still be able to play my games off USB i dont care if i have to run games in 002 mode or alt dol loading i just want the install to be as simple as possible and not have to install a bunch of stuff im pretty sure i dont need. Anyone have a guide like that i.e. no BootMii no Preloader no extra IOS patches ect?
zektors 4.2 updater
its simple just run it and it will download all the nesessary IOS files and system menu
but you will have to reinstall priiloader if you had it

Thank you for the response but i dont think your quite getting what im looking for im looking for something that isnt necessarily simple but really minimal, the bare minimum essentials to be able to run Wii games off USB, gamecube games off of burned disk, and emulators on the homebrew channel without having to install half a dozen IOSs and wads to get there.

When i first did the homebrew it has one TP hack install homebrew channel and install one cIOS and i could play burned games when the USB came it again was only one cIOS install. id like to be able to run a safe update and run one file and still be good to go. Is there a way to do this? All this homebrew stuff has gotten way to complicated to follow with everyone and their dog coding their own IOSs and launcher and loader and other apps and updates.

if the hackmii installer gives you the option to install bootmii as boot2, then it means you can. Definitly install it and make a back up of your nand before you region change. I dont know how thorough the region changer is, i never used it, but to take a blind guess, id say it downloads the all the system files that would be on a Japanese wii, so that would include the system menu

hmmm ok so it will tell me on the installer, thanks

i was wondering about the channels, since i read somewhere something that made me think it wasn't that easy....
and, it is possible to swap to J from E, completely and entirely? (i want to stay at j, because my old j wii broke, and i have some j retail disks.)
oh- also, so i use the region changer app, and it makes me 3.2? so, if i also want homebrew stuff, would it be worthwhile to install it all first, and then update to 4.1, or, update to 4.1 first, and THEN install all my stuff.

I installed Priiloader rev 15 and now I can't get to my system menu. I'm trying to use dop ios mod v8 to reinstall sm4.2 but i need some help. It asks which IOS I would like to use to install other IOSs. Can someone help me with reinstalling the sm4.2?

Thanks.

Could someone tell me if I can get gifts (WiiWare games, etc) if my Wii's firmware isn't up to date?
Anyone? Please? Don't want to update unless I really need to.
yes you can if the shop channel is asking for an update just get wiiscu from wiibrew and update the shop channel and IOS61 only no need to update the whole console

Hey guys help needed.

I installed neogamma r7 (since I heard r8 had some issues).

It installed fine but the problem is...

When I tuned it on it said "you have ios249 rev 7, neogamma was designed to work with rev 14 upwards, some games may not work"

I just wanted to know how do I get from rev 7 to rev 14? And is iso249 good or do I need a newer ios?

Thanks people.
it seems to me that you are not even reading for i had given links already on my other post to you regarding your question. the links all have the answer to your questions: http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/cios/waninkoko

hi

So thanks to everyone's advice I got my HBC and USB loader working. I played Mario no problem. The problem I'm running into now is with Wii Sports Resort. The details: I have a cyclowiz chip and I was able to play Wii Sports Resort before I did the TBR and updated HBC. Now that I have had Mario running using USB Loader GX I have been satisfied. I just tried putting Sports Resort into my Wii and it's giving me a system update screen on the game channel. Is it ok for me to do this update? Will it effect my USB channel or HBC? Should I be extra careful and JUST use the USB channel now or is it ok still to use all the burned discs I have? Should I rip the ISO off the DVD and just throw it on the USB stick? Thanks.

you could install priiloader or startpatch to skip disc updates: http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/sy...acks/priiloader

I have seem to corrupted my Ios-070 is there any way to fix this? I tried reinstalling it, but it's not working. What are the steps to fix this? I appreciate any help! I can run ios-060 with preloader, but ios-070 is corrupted. By the way I have 4.2U.

Hi guys, I've successfully modded my 3.2 wii and can play wads and wii isos. However, I can't get gamecube games to work

I've downloaded this (http://filetrip.net/f4658-GC-Backup-Launcher-0-2.html) and installed the mios to cIOS249. I then tried running the backup launcher but it doesn't work, just makes a horrible sound on the DVD and the screen doesn't change. I burnt the GC game to a dvd-r and it was verified as working on the wii. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks a lot!

you look for DOP-IOS mod for you to re-install IOS70 then patch it. http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/how-to-use/dop-ios
