I'd really like to restore my wii to a factory setting... my brother did some softmodding to get the homebrew channel and a usb loader running. I'd like to know if it is possible to do a wipe of the system or something and just restore it all. Get rid of HBC, the USB loader... all the cIOS he may have installed, etc.

I don't have much info on what was installed, because I didn't do it. I just know I buy all my games, and don't have time to mess with Homebrew or emulators... I own a DVD player, and I REALLY like to be able to update my devices when a new update comes out, and not worry that something is going to bust it.

So what do you think - what is the easy way for me to accomplish this? What info about my system do you need to know?

okay, so how do i install cios 14?
i have the hbc, wadmanager and i have the IOS38-64-v3609.wad file on the root of my sd card
and in the apps folder i have a folder cIOSrev14 with a boot.dol file in it.
i pick the wad installation on my wii in the installer, and then it says error ret=-1
it has found the .wad file already, I read that on my wii.
what should I do now?

you need IOS38-64-v3610.wad on the root of SD

but when I try to use simple fs dumper, it said i needed the latest version of IOS 249
what do i have to do now?

so how does preloader get in before bootmii when you press reset on power up???

because holding reset in bootmii is like pressing enter? So it immediatly goes and start the first selected option, which is the system menu?

Yup, first option is the System Menu

I have a 3.3e wii that im trying to mod and I have looked at the various guides and followed them but for some reason it wont boot from the sd card. It just shows the number of sd blocks when I insert the card....can anyone help please?

can someone explain to me why my wiiware/vc wont load off the sd card? it gives me some unable to launch error msg, i recently updated wii to 4.2 using the 4.2safe installer, and i downgraded and patched the ios60(info i found i should do using search function) using dop-ios but all except one of my wiiware titles dont work now, the only one that works from sd card is family table tennis for some reason, which i do not have installed onto wii memory, world of goo and defend your castle also work off sd but that could just be cause i have them installed on wii memory as well, so wtf is the problem here?

You have to patch IOS70 on 4.2
not IOS60

i have just upgraded my wii3.2 e to 4.1ewith > Modify any Wii 4.2 & below, aka the simplistic mod i have cioscorp installed all went well but my sega gen emulator and my snes emulator wont work now all i get is failed to mount dvd iknow this works as i used it on 3.2 e anyone got any ideas what ive done(doing) wrong ????thanx in advane

Nope they just do nothing. It just shows the number of blocks on my sd. Im using the hackmii installer v0.6 is that right?

Where do you go then?

Settings > Data management > Channels > SD Card
is where you have to go
