Hey nabster, it seems to me that it's not poss offline but wanted to make sure...thats a shame, no GC backups for me!!!
The only things i have on my card are the apps i use such as emus with roms and vc games. Eveything else works no probs....the only wii backup i have sofar is metal slug anthology and its okay but DVDs (ive only tried original retail discs so far) seem to freeze after 5 to 10 mins of playing, then i have to pull out the power cord to reboot.

in CIOSCORP there is a patched MIOS version included i thought, you can look into that.

just try updating to 4.1, it has no disadvantage's, but it will probably fix most of your problems

use waninkoko's updater for it.

NOOB HERE! =)

I lost the ability to install WADs via WAD Manager 1.4 after I upgraded my wii with Wii Sports Resort.
I was using IOS35 and I'm on 4.1U with HBC.

Can anyone please help me?
Everything else runs fine.

thnx!

you have to patch your ios's for that, run waninkoko's 4.1 updater

Using DOPIOS is the reason I'm in this current situation
smile.gif

I tried waninkoko's 4.1 updater before, it says "press any key to restart" and everything just goes blank.

I searched a little, and found out that if I have pre-loader prior to dopios ios60 update, I should re-install pre-loader; anyone can confirm that? Because if pre-loader is gone, I'm perma-fucked!

yes, you should reinstall, because the preloader installation patches ios60.

but that wont be a problem, wont it?

just dopios ios60, boot into preloader, go to the homebrew channel, and reinstall preloader, not a big deal

hi guys, noob here. i have a 4.1U with a wiikey 1.9g inside. the disc channel always ask for update when i put a PAL or NTSC-J disc. is there any IOS that i miss when im updating into 4.1U? actually i used the gx loader mostly and everything works fine. it just my curiousity why the disc channel always asked the update, like when i put in the punch out PAL disc.

thanx a lot.

There is no way at the moment to load gc isos from hard drive with softmod. You can only use disk. You will ve able to load gc isos thru hard drive with a flatmii modchip and there flatzii addon when it's released however but that's a hardmod

what ive been looking for on this site however have yet to find is a quick step-by-step guide to hacking a wii. My friend has a 3.4U Wii with lower than a LU64 serial, to my understanding this is what he needs to do to hack it and be able to play Wii ISO's from a flash drive:

1. Install HBC/DvDx/Bootmii2
2. Install WAD Installer
3. Install UsbLoader

the end?

i have no idea if this is right or not, any help on this would be nice

could someone tell me what i gotta do to make a gamecube backup loader work. I recently tried cMIOS rev 3 or something like that and it doesnt boot the games, just reboots the wii. Maybe im not using the proper loader? idk.

thanks.

No not at all. Wad Installer is like REALLLLLY old and isn't even something that is supposed to be installed. It's not even called Wad Installer anymore, it's Wad Manager 1.5. And you need other things like a cIOS installed after getting the trucha bug back to install it for any kind of backup loading to work at all let alone a usb loader. Also dvdx is kinda unnecessary as well.

If you don't really know much about the Wii hacking scene, you shouldn't really be trying to follow a quick step by step guide. You should really read up on things first and then use a guide like that as a checklist. I suggest reading through everything in the guide in my sig first, and then following xzxero's simplistic mod guide if you still really need something to follow.

What have you been trying to load them through? Are you not using the GC backup launcher that should have come with that cMIOS?

download the wiikey config disk:
http://nintendo-scene.com/568

and disable disc update check

or use preloader, but i prefer the wiikey configuration myself

read the gbatemp review about the config disc:
http://www.gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=49885#e

thanks a lot for the answer. so i manage to mess around with the config disc again, i have the update blocker turned both on and off, but still asking for update. but later solved with update blocker and dev mode enabled.

try using miospatcher instead of cmios rev3 and then use neogamma r7 to load your gamecube games.

Thanks for all this. Its pretty awesome.

I have a few small questions and yes I have done a lot of reading regarding the hacking of my wii unit but with the way my week has gone best just to get clarification.

1. I have a wii from just after it was launched so its < LU64
2. Its running firmware 3.4E
3. I want to hack it only so that I can get back up discs working.. You won't believe the damage a kid can do to these things
4. I have read a ton of articles on the subject and the best so far or at least idiot proof one seems to be: http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=168890

My questions are:
If I want to do the bare minimum to hack my wii I understand that I need to do only the following:
1. Update to firmware 4.1
2. Use BannerBomb and install hackMii as boot2
3. Backup the NAND
4. Patch I036
5. Install cIOS38 rev14 (is this even necessary in I only want to run backed up discs??)
6. install a backup loader like NeoGamma

Does that sound about right? I don't really want to do anything more. Additionally I take i need to be careful when updating with later firmware updates from Nintendo or is that not a concern as long as I stay aware from extra modification and ciosCorp?

Thanks in advance (and please be gentle)

REBOOTER

I used to like using the Rebooter option in WiiGator's backup launcher 0.3g to load games via the disc channel. Since more recent versions of Waninkoko's cIOS broke the rebooter I've not used it for a bit. However, I installed cIOS rev14 recently and the rebooter issue is supposedly fixed so I thought I'd try it using NeoGamma rev7. Yup, the discs show up in the disc channel again - woo hoo! But.... I get the black screen and "An error has occurred..." every time I try and start a game.

I downgraded back to cIOS rev7 and it still does the same thing so I'm now fairly sure it's got to be something to do with updating the firmware to 4.1, which I did yesterday after eventually deciding to take the plunge.

I used to be on 3.3E and the only modification I've done other than install the homebrew channel was to add the latest versions of cIOS 249 as they came out. I checked all the version numbers of my IOSes before upgrading (via Nintendo's server, not via Waninkoko's updater) and pretty much all the IOSes are obviously newer versions.

Is there anything I can do to get the rebooter working like it used to before? I used Dop-IOS to ES_Identify function patch IOS36 because AnyTitle Deleter brought up an error message without. Do I need to use it to put the trucha bug back in any other IOSes or anything like that? Does the rebooter need older versions of any of the IOSes or is that potentially dangerous?? I've done loads of searches but you know how it is.... some of these threads go on forever and never seem to quite answer exactly what you want. That or you get "install CIOSCORP" which is something I've got no intention of doing!

TIA
