What is the safest way t downgrade a 3.3U Wii to 3.2? And can it be done without a Wii internet connection? Does it matter if I installed stuff like the ios for Backuplauncher Gamma?

Hi all, I recently installed preloader and softmii but I want to get into starfall to change a few settings. When I start it up I get 0.5 ISFS seek fail error -101. I have done a bit of searching and I read that I have to uninstall preloader and softmii to get it to work again.

My question is what is the best way of doing this? Can I just run the 3.2E installer through AnyRegionChanger or do I have to upgrade to 3.4 and then back down to 3.2?

i'm having some real trouble with this custom health screens using healthii thing

if i download files that are already in .app format then i can use them easily with softmii tweaks as i have been doing. however if i want to use presii to make a custom press a buton message they need to be in .health format right?

i've used healthii with systemmenu-v290.wad and the image i want to use and then chosen disable splash screen then i leave the computer alone (it says not to touch it).

anyways, everytime it gets to the U8packer or something it says subscript error 9 and then goes off leaving only the browse for system wad and image screen i started at. only now theres a folder in the healthii one called wadunpack... what the hell am i doing wrong?? i cant find guides or anything anywhere!!

if you turn ON your Wii and then press and hold the reset button, you'll enter in the preloader settings, over there you have a function "install DOL" we you hit A it'll show you all the .dol files in the root of your SD, they don't need to be renamed to boot.dol, they can be named as you like, then you choose one and hit A to install it, and then in the options of system settings (or something like that) you can choose to autoboot to sysmenu/HBC/DOL and when you return to go to preloader/sysmenu, once you are there in the settings, tweak somethings so you can now what are they...!!!

Yes for the tweak tool in softmii, you rename to 00000045.app (PAL) and then you put it in the root, of your SD, for presii I haven't check that yet

Well actually there is no guide because the entire proccess should be automatic, however the app has some bug, remember to install:

Visual dunno what
Forms dunno what
Framework 2.0

they should be in the "Healtii released" forum posted around the last pages, and you even with that installed, ended up with another error at the end but if you read a little bit over there you'll know what to do...!!!

oh my!! just read through about 18 pages of healthii topic around here somewhere and i finnaly managed to get it to make the damn health file!!

never had c + + or something installed... WOOP now to test it and then use presii to change the text

one worry i've got is if my wii's 512 megabytes will be filled up with cIOS, healthscreens and hacks and stuff coz i realised after installing a cIOS when everyone was using the gamma loader, that some of my memory left me!

only about 5 blocks but it all adds up!

That's becasue CIOScorp is all the IOS used by the Wii Games transformed to cIOS, and some of the IOS ended with much bigger size than their original, but I beg you to not try to delete IOS, if you want to get rid of it, just update to 3.4 and then go back to 3.2, or just use cIOS and IOS downgraders, it is safe at the moment, I've done it several times...!!!

After poking around for most of the night I tried my very best to make sure I searched for everything before asking but I have a few questions that I am unsure about.

I have had HBC installed for a few weeks, but last night I decided to give Gamma Loader a try. After quite a while and several of the great guides on this site I was able to get everything up and running.

I am still confused about a few vocabulary terms but I am just ignoring that fact for the moment.

...I know these Noobs they will go wild with wads after they've downgraded and eventually brick their Wiis. So they should really have the twilight hack on there...

So, I have been of course "going wild with wads" since I got everything up and running last night. So my NOOB question is this:

What do I need to be careful of so as to NOT brick my console?

Also - I have a few PAL ISO's that I am unsure if it is safe to run. What do I need to be careful of?

Also - I have seen a few ISO's (such as SSSB) which are really large files. Do I need to be using DL discs for all the ISO's?

At this point I have yet to successfully load a backup (need to get some decent discs) but I am hesitant to do anything until I know for sure that I am even doing things correctly.

Since some of the posts and tutorials have come out at different times it's easy to get confused if you are comming in at the end of the game.

1. I have a program called Wiibrickblocker - Some posts seem to indicate that this is not needed anymore if you are using a certain loader. I am using a loader called DjTaz_gamma_Loader.wad but I am not sure if it is the "right one". I see talk of a 002 fix and I downloaded what seems like the newest file from: http://www.iol.ie/~taz/wii/WiiHowToGamma.html so my question is this - What should I be looking for, and how can I tell that I have all that I need?

2. I took a look at a HUGE discussion thread about discs - Rather than mess around I just went to Circuit City (20% off on everything) and bought a spindle of Sony DVD-R discs. Looking at the SSSB ISO though - How often am I going to need a DL disc?

3. There is lots of talk about using IMGBURN to burn your ISO's but one of the features needed seems to be that you have to change the book type. Unfortunately my burner is not supported. Now it seems that this step is ONLY necessary if you are trying to use + media but it seems unclear. Do I need to buy a new burner that is compatible with IMGBURN? Does Nero 8 support changing the book type?


Sorry for the barrage of noob questions but there is just SO much data to parse I think it's hard to keep track of what information is current and what information is outdated.

Ok I did some test and here is what you need:

Go to the 002fix error thread and download the Bailli's GWP (generic wii patcher)
Open you pikmin.iso with trucha signer and extract the main.dol from 2nd partition (the one were the game is, not the update one)
open the main.dol you've extracted with Bailli's patcher
in the "Console Language Detection" hit search, choose "Japan", and then hit "Patch to new language"
hit "save"
open trucha signer again
replace the main.dol in the .iso with the one you've just patched
right click over the 2nd partittion and click "Trucha Sing it"
close trucha signer and now you can burn your disc, and play it straight from disc channel (if you jave softmii of course)

with nero (if using something like nero burning rom) you just need to burn it as DVD-ROM (iso)

if you use the same one as me then the option to change to DVD is in the top left of the program, then just choose DVD-ROM (ISO) in the list. it's at the top on mine

to not brick your wii, you shouldnt mess around with region changing without having appropriate homebrew to save you if you get bricked (such as starfall or better yet softmii with preloader) also, you can get semi-bricked in same cases by installing channels with wrongly dimensioned banners (i think). brick blocker is pretty old now lol

the only things you have to be weary about are updates on game discs. but the update check on the discs can be skipped, so its not necessary to update unless the game requires something in the update in order to play it! (much like the wii shop channel did, but they managed to find a was to install the single IOS needd to regain the shop channel without updating

)

and there arent so many games that need DL discs, i havent come across the need for one yet, i dont plan on copying brawl really either.

OH and can anyone tell me why the hell dragon quest swords (PAL) doesnt load properly from the disc chanel on softmii 0.9.5 (PAL wii 3.2E)?? it reads and shows up there but then upon pressing start, the av goes off, like somethings pulled out the connection from the back of the screen or turned the wii off...

knida does that for sonic unleashed too, theres a brief flick of connection lost and then it loads straight up... strange indeed!

if you run it thru the launcher, the update partition is not readed, so it is very safe

Only for SSBB for the moment, but gues what...?? DL discs aren't supported by the cIOS of Gamma Launcher, so you need to convert it to DVD5 version, search for a tutorial here at GBATemp

Use sony or verbatim DVD-R so you can be sure they are going to work, you can use DVD+R too, but you need to change the book type to DVD-ROM to make those work

If you downloaded that launcher a few days ago, then it is the Gamma 002fix Launcher, wich is the latest one

I use nero6 and it can change book type in any writter, just remember to burn as image in nero, ImgBurn it is only to burn images, so less space for mistakes, if you are going to use DVD-R you don't need to change the book type, that is only for DVD+R, ok..? obviously if you want your writter to be supported by ImgBurn, you need to buy a suppported writter, But I really think nero is better than ImgBurn, that's why I use nero and have 50 games working and only a few coaster because of patching needed (check the compatibility list to see wich ones)

you're suppoused to install a previous MIOS for AR to work, but some reports say even with an older MIOS still no luck...!!!
