I don't think animal crossing requires certain IOS. Could be wrong though.

On a side note, install WADs using WAD Manager. WAD Installer auto-installs all of the WADs in your WAD folder.

PS: I like your L avatar. So damn fucking cute

whats better soft mii or risk mii are they not they same thing or does 1 have more options?

SoftMii is the newer version of riskii, we changed the name cause the installation (only the installation) it is not so riskii after all

Possible noob territory here, lol
trying to use the [3812]IOS Patcher to fix Mortal Kombat
It says not to go lower than 3.... do I type 3, or do I type 249?
also would it hurt anything to patch EVERY game to save on burn errors? would I patch them all to the same thing?

it says not to go lower than 3 cause there is nothing lower than that inside your Wii, and this tool was created for ModChip users, so the readme will say 30, but for the Backup Launcher you should type 249, it is not going to help for BURN error, cause what this tool does has nothing to do with your burning software/media/writter, so check the compatibility list and just patch the ones that the list says, otherwise when you use a modchip you will regret it...!!!

Just wondering about gamma loader .03. does it skip disk updates? Im going to downgrade later on, but right now id rather not.

the launchers (any of them) doesn't read the update partition of the disc, so yes they skip the updates, starfall was created for ModChip users, but now it is usefull for softmod users too...!!!

QUOTEi guess my question belongs here anyway can anyone help me with installing wads for the system menu, i haven't updated my shop channel and i would like to and also wads needed to play animal crossing lets go to the city. if you could tell me the name of the wads then that would be a great help.
also do i just install it using wadinstaller?
thx for the help

AC uses IOS38, if you are a ModChip user you can use WUFE and extract that IOS from the game disc, if you are not using modchip, then you don't need any IOS at all, and try using Wad Manager 1.3, not wad installer...!!!

QUOTE
Thanks, so which ones do i need to install to get my wii shop working again?

Just use the WiiShop/IOS51 installer found at wiibrew.org and you'll be fine, say yes to all and that would do the job...!!!

Okay, so Im back again today. Although I know a lot more than I did yesterday. I did my uncle's wii for him last night, but I'm still having problems in some areas.

On 3.2u with .3g and .1 as well as softchip.
I used the DvDx installer found on the homebrew browser.
I downloaded and used the Mplayer found on homebrew browser.

Maybe I am super dumb, but I cant figure out what to do to play dvds.

My other problem is with snes9xgx. I have the app and I have a dvd with an iso of a bunch of snes games on it. How do I get these games into my rom folder.

And since I'm on a roll, this is completely off topic, but I want to be able to use the wii shop channel. And I already did the ios51 installer and said no to the wii shop fix or w/e. I used emporer of canada's guide. Is there any way I can get wii shop to fix without messing anything up.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

You need the DVD version of the Media Player, but you better buy a dvd player it is not really that great as a backup launcher, I deleted it from my SD since it is terrible

I put my roms on the SD, but you should check out the wiibrew.org spects for this, cause the dvd needs to be iso9XXX dunno what

You need to say yes to all, not just the IOS51, otherwise why you want the IOS51..?? the WiiShop is the only thing that uses it

the problem is that the video in the games it is not patched to give you an output NTSC, and your TV isn't capable of receiving this PAL signal input, you need to get your region's ones

ether, you have been awesome the past couple of days.

1.) I have a dvd player, just liked the novelty of being able to play a dvd on the wii. Not worth it obviously Ill get rid of them, but I should keep dvdx right? Its needed for snes9xgx?
2.) I will try loading onto my sd card, the problem lies in the file i downloaded. The file is in iso format and I don't really know how to go in and pull the files out one by one.
3.) I solved my problem before you posting by doing exactly what you said, but since I had already installed IOS51 I just said no to that and yes too the wii shop update, all is working there!

this is about the softmii 0.9.5
"
For those of you who don't know what this does, it lets you do is permanently have region free and backup loading from the disk channel and does all the starfall hacks and a bunch of other stuff.

so my question again is, is this stuff permanit? aka cant be changed ever again even with updates?

i've been gone a month and there is alot of new homebrew on the scene here.

i've googeled and searched around to a few answers to these questions but can seem to get myself any so where better to ask than the knowledgeable gbatemp community
tongue.gif
.

i know that WADder is a program that lets you make custom homebrew channels without the risk of a banner brick?

softmii i can just about gather is like a custom firmware that lets you change the health warning screen (dont know if i saw somewhere that it can load backups from the disc channel)

preloader is something that lets you get to the homebrew channel upon boot.

i dont really understand at all what healthii is lol

also, riskii... dont know what it is but it sounds good. i dont like the thought of messing with my firmwares at all so i'll need reassuring on those matters. cant be arsed using the backup loader everytime i play a game

also i've been running on 3.3E (on pal wii, i'd never change the region lol) for as long as i can remember but would anyone recommend me to downgrade and install starfall and all the 3.2 crap? it'll be the first time i've done it and i have guides and all the files ready even though i dont use em. i'm scared to brick the damn thing XD if i did it i wouldn't know how to upgrade to 3.3 again thats all
tongue.gif

EDIT: jusst read about softmii above, but where can i get it? if thats a legal question XDalso, since it has the starfall hacks is it only going to work on 3.2 meaning i have to downgrade anyways?

Just a simple question...
I downgraded my mates Wii from 3.4 to 3.2. Did it very carefully, I REMEMBER NOT SELECTING "JAPANESE" anywhere.
So why is the Wii on 3.2 partially japanese? Like when i clicked on home, it showed japanese stuff...

System settings says "3.2E"

ether, you have been awesome the past couple of days.

Well sometimes I try to act like a decent guy

Yes, it is needed for the other apps that can handle DVD reading (altought I really never tryed those and don't know how they work cause I have a 2GB SD card)

2.) I will try loading onto my sd card, the problem lies in the file i downloaded. The file is in iso format and I don't really know how to go in and pull the files out one by one.
Mmmmmm..... me neither, but I think that .iso it is intended for ModChip users only, no one has reported working one of those .iso files into a softmoded Wii, and the emulator capables of reading roms from a DVD, need to have the DVD burnt in IOS9660 format (wich I have not knowledge if is the same as that kind of .iso file,

)

Nothing in this life is permanent, NOTHING, not even....*thinking*................*still thinking*...........nothing, when you perform an update, it'll go away from your system, forever (just in case of loosing something sometimes it can be permanent, like the money spended in your Wii, it'll never ever come back)

If you have preloader and brick during the installation of a new System Menu, then say good-bye to your Wii, cause the Sysmenu will overwrite preloader and you wont be able to access preloader again, hence it ihas been deleted, if you semi-brick installing a health screen or installing a corrupted channel, then enter in the preloader options, and load HBC, over there you can uninstall with Wad Manager the corrupted channel and fix it, if is because of the health screen, then use the softmii tweak tool to re-install your original (from an already NAND dump before messing around with any of this things) 00000042.app(NTSC) or 00000045.app(PAL), and that will fix itif you delete IOS30 with Any Title Deleter, I really don't think you can recover from that even with preloader or a SaveMii dongle....!!!
smile.gif

correct

softmii i can just about gather is like a custom firmware that lets you change the health warning screen (dont know if i saw somewhere that it can load backups from the disc channel)
it is more like a package with CIOScorp (wich is basically installing all the IOS used by games as cIOS) Any Region Changer_mod5 (wich install a SysMenu 3.2, with all the hacks of Starfall, but really working, not like starfall
laugh.gif
), preloader (wich is a sysmenu launcher that gets installed just before sysmenu and lets you choose between HBC, a .dol file (not working well by the moment) or the sysmenu, and set some minor hacks and re-arrange the way the SysMenu works when start or returns) and a tool to exchange your health screen, so after you install, you can have a different boot splash (where you are asked to press A), and launching of backups region free (except for those japanese games that needs to have japanese language setted) directly from disc channel, and a way to recover from bricks, kind of nice..!!
biggrin.gif

preloader is something that lets you get to the homebrew channel upon boot.
lets you autoboot to SysMenu/ a.dol file/HBC, and it also add some minor hacks to the SysMenu, nice brick recovering tool
wink.gif

i dont really understand at all what healthii is lol
Same as wadder but for health boot-splash screens (only when you have english language setted in the Wii)

also, riskii... dont know what it is but it sounds good. i dont like the thought of messing with my firmwares at all so i'll need reassuring on those matters. cant be arsed using the backup loader everytime i play a game
Riskii is the older version of softmii, we stoped calling it riskii cause the installation process (and only that) it is not that riskii anymore, the wii behavior it is not considered.

also i've been running on 3.3E (on pal wii, i'd never change the region lol) for as long as i can remember but would anyone recommend me to downgrade and install starfall and all the 3.2 crap? it'll be the first time i've done it and i have guides and all the files ready even though i dont use em. i'm scared to brick the damn thing XD if i did it i wouldn't know how to upgrade to 3.3 again thats all
No need for starfall at all, since you are going to overwrite the SysMenu with AnyRegionChanger from SoftMii/riskii, you need to downgrade to 3.2 that's for sure, if you are scared of doing something, I really recomend to not do anything to your Wii, cause that state will cause missreading or missunderstanding of something that can be important, and that way you'll brick or damage your Wii, many (PAL) people change their video output to NTSC, without a TV capable of supporting such signal input, and they ended up with a nice no image on screen only sound, not that it were unfixable, but it will make your underwear kind of brownish.

EDIT: jusst read about softmii above, but where can i get it? if thats a legal question XDalso, since it has the starfall hacks is it only going to work on 3.2 meaning i have to downgrade anyways?
Well some people have links on their signatures and some use the search function in megashares.com, yes you need to downgrade to 3.2

ah yeah i'm doin the softmii thing now. is softmii just another name for the preloader?
if so i take it installing the preloader enables the recovery thing like starfall?

SoftMii it is just the name of the pack, preloader is in it, and yes it is a starfall kind of recover way, I think better than starfall...!!!
