get banned this morning with SX OS only, never installed something else. Get banned in normal mode with a Fortnite online update

Had you powered off the Switch since the last time you used the SX OS, and did you remove the MicroSD with the payload before updating?

We can't say for certain. But if you want to play it safe then I highly suggest blocking all connections except the ones required for updating whether you're in OFW or SXOS (guide: https://gbatemp.net/threads/is-ther...ate-games-on-sx-os.508131/page-4#post-8080238)

I used a mod the day before yesterday to make the weapons in BotW unbreakable. I deleted everything related to the mod and boot into regular firmware to play Splatoon 2 online. It worked fine then, but last night I tried to go online, but was banned. I got SX OS right after it was released and had been using it offline and booting into regular firmware when I wanted to play online since then with no issues. I had also been using pSNES a bunch.

Of course, this could be a coincidence and my Switch was already marked, but idk. This is the mod I used.

I have warned my 8 year old brother he won't be able to play the games online if he doesn't put his Switch on airplane mode but he isn't gonna listen. CFW was on all the time, playing Fortnite and Splatoon 2 with CFW but no cheats. Entering the eShop and downloading games with CFW.

When I boot into CFW, I only touch the backup games in airplane mode. When I play my games like eShop purchases, I play them with wifi settings on OFW. I may not be banned but it can happen anytime. I have a separate account that isn't linked which is only used for backups. Might not be 100% proof but it's something I can at least experiment

A question mate, How are you playing the .XCI backups from SX OS?
I mean, Without injecting a cert into them (just like BBB backups are) or on the contrary you are injecting a cert into them before playing them?

The .XCI can have a blank cert and still be played w/ SX OS. I also forgot to mentioned that my brother once got the certificate ban error when I forgot to inject the cert from Super Mario Odyssey to play Mario Kart 8 online. I think that error code could be a red flag

EDIT: Upon further inspection, you are now the second person to have been banned for using trimmed .XCIs without using LayeredFS. Coincidence?

You don't get banned for moving your account so long as you don't then start doing the same thing. Shiny, one of the first banned, moved his account to a non-hacking Switch and hasn't been re-banned.

The ban remains associated with your account, though, because your account is pretty much permanently marked by the banned Switch's Console ID. So its like a strike.

But mmmm SMOdyssey has online playing, then maybe this is a reason for ban since I have understood that the "preferred" cert must be from a gamecard doesn't have online playing.

If you double check Pekka's posts (thanks to @RHOPKINS13 for pointing this out), that person seems to have used LayeredFS but when they admitted they were banned, they never mentioned anything about LayeredFS. Now I like to give people the benefit of the doubt (maybe Pekka forgot) but there is a lie somewhere and so I've now reduced it to one user until Pekka clarifies where the lie was.
