Aah I see what you meant. Because when you connect to Nintendo, you still get banned.

But for me it's an anti ban measure. I won't connect to Nintendo Servers form my CFW emunand. Most games I like I buy. So using Emunand and not connecting to Nintendo prevents Nintendo for banning my Switch. And you scared me enough to never go online again, even in stealth- + incognitomode :P.

Don't forget in the begin days, the only way to not get banned was restoring your NAND. So Emunand is seen by a lot of people as an anti ban measure.
But I am curious what real anti ban measures are out there for Atmosphere? Which https://gbatemp.net/threads/nintendo-switch-banning-hub-warning.508710/page-232#post-9431334 is talking about.

The closest thing to real anti-ban measures are the GDPR settings for European Nintendo Accounts which block some, but not all, telemetry. Even if you do not have a European Nintendo Account, you can simply block that URL manually with your router or other device.

Lol. I have an European account, but I still won't connect with that and my CFW.:creep:

So the best anti ban measure is to not hack your Switch at all?

Some may see it that way but then you lose out on all of the cool features of CFW and homebrew. The actual best anti-ban measure is to avoid going online with CFW or homebrew. However you accomplish that is up to you whether that involves restoring a clean eMMC backup before going online, using emuMMC for CFW/homebrew only, or some other magic trick.

Could you please tell me what the ban protection is in Atmosphere? I am thinking of migrating to Atmosphere.

    1) creport that prevent error codes from record into NAND and the report goes to SD card instead, so Nintendo greatly rely on error codes to determine that you used hacked Switch.

    2) eclct disabled to block the telemetry from generated that caused by CFW and it means you will get clean telemetry, so Nintendo rely on telemetry to see if you hacked the Switch.

Both are set by default so you don't need to change everything.

but... Atmosphere doesn't grant you invincible if you install NSP games and if they goes on NAND, so Nintendo could ban your Switch immediately. If you want to install NSP - you need emuNAND, 100% offline or conceal your Switch product key and sigpatches.

Remember, don't ask about sigpatches and they are violation of GBAtemp's rule, so I'm not going to help on this part and I want to respect the creator's wish to make Atmosphere as 100% piracy free. The piracy was major reason that why Nintendo cracked this down too hard, so Nintendo doesn't care as long as you aren't pirate the games, also best to keep to yourself if you want to pirate.

If I understand correctly if you only use Homebrew from the SD-card, Atmospehere got you covered and don't get your Switch internally flagged.

In my opinion that is not a ban protection. It's flag prevention for homebrew apps usage A good ban protection would prevent a ban no matter what you do. This ban protection sounds like it only protects you during foreplay B-).
If you want to tamper you NAND, you get banned. In the begin days of Switch Hacking, also only Homebrew people got banned. Atmosphere has the heart on the right place for the homebrew community, but not Nintendo.

I will not ask anything about piracy. And I 100% agree with Nintendo banning users who are pirating (or cheating online). The Wii days where fun, but a lot of people get their Switch hacked for pirating and don't forgot the paid services that where available. While I was more busy tweaking my Wii with homebrew, launchers, emulators and Mario Kart Arcade.

I don't know how to say and if it wasn't for ban protection or anti-ban measure, whichever about those words, everyone would get banned outright for using Atmosphere, even if we don't install the NSP.

My Switch hasn't banned for 3 years after used Atmosphere, so I used emulator, cheat and save management, that it.

If it wasn't for creport nor eclct disabled so my Switch would be banned in 2018.

Atmosphere also reimplemented fatal, another telemtetry block, that got people banned early on.
Also its was (maybe still is) possible to use let sxos also use atmospheres creport and fatal, by using the layeredfs feature, its how I used SXOS relatively safely this way, while going online with my self dumped XCIs, when it was still possible to do it, without flagging yourself for a future ban.

Hey guys, I've read the first page and the last couple but I didn't find a clear answer to my question. I'm sure it's in the middle somewhere but I don't really want to go through 230+ pages. Please excuse me for this.

way back when I removed the wireless connections from my switch and took a NAND backup via hekate. It took me a few tries to boot into RCM but eventually I got in and I took a couple backups. From here I created an emuNAND and have been playing in that ever since.

Does failing to boot into RCM add lines to the system logs?

What I want to do is keep my emuNAND offline and the SD card in my switch. I'll restore sysNAND from the backup above (even though I've never used it) and use that online. How risky is this? I'll keep all the custom stuff on emuNAND and real stuff in sysNAND online.

Well failing to boot RCM would just mean you are normally booting the console. Although RCM is an intended system feature, the system itself is not designed to boot RCM normally therefore it follows the console shouldn't care too much if its not in RCM because that is its intended usage.

    That makes sense. Thank you.

I've done more reading and it seems that some people are safely using emuNAND offline and a clean sysNAND for online. Also, People don't think that they'll ban you for having custom firmware on your SD card if you're in a clean sysNAND so I'm going to try that. Lets hope I don't get banned. Cheers!

This is my method. Added my switch in DHCP to reserve a specific IP all the time. Then add a deny rule in my firewall for the switch IP. This stops all traffic from the switch to get out.
