Nintendo Switch 2 announced by Nintendo

After months of countless leaks, Nintendo has finally lifted the curtain on the highly anticipated successor to the Nintendo Switch.

In a short teaser trailer we are given a brief look the new system unsurprisingly titled the Nintendo Switch 2. We also get a glimpse at a new Mario Kart game running on the system and confirmation of backwards compatilbility with Nintendo Switch software and game cards.

We also see the new joycons being pushed along like a traditional computer mouse, further fueling the rumor that the joycons will support a "mouse mode".

Wonder if they're going to try any anti-scalp measures. We all know this is about to be some bullshit.

I wonder how many up-coming games will be exclusive, and how many will launch on both systems. Looking at Metroid Prime 4, mostly.
Honestly this has me thinking games will be the same and it's the hardware that does the work , it's how they will keep file sizes low but they will just smack a different sticker on the cartridge 🤣 wouldn't that be a neat Nintendo trick .. I mean condering their studios were developing the last few years for Switch 2 makes me think they will come out with a crazy Switch 2 only lineup of at least 8 big games

In the trailer it mentions something about compatibility not being 100%. Interested in knowing more about that..
I'm hoping it's just an eShop thing and not a cartridge game thing.

I buy in-person, not online. I preorder at GameStop and pick up on 9pm West Coast USA. (Because it hits midnight on the east Coast)

Probably games like Labo.

The switch 2 may have a lot of strategy pc games ports (EU4, HoI4, etc) if the new joycons works like a mouse
Makes me wonder if a company or companies will do mouse only games.

Fun fact, now the original switch will be officially called Switch 1. just like PS1.

I wonder how the Switch 2 Jig looks like 🤣

I'm gonna try to do the same at Best Buy. I have that Plus or whatever it is. Hopefully some good luck. I had good luck with the PS5

My assumption was a lack of IR on the new controllers or something like that. I couldn’t spot IR on the trailer, but obviously no confirmation either way.

The name of a console seems like a pretty shallow reason to dislike an entire company to me
The name isn't the only reason, it's the years of Nintendo shifting more in the direction closer to Sony/Microsoft and shifting away from what made Nintendo different from them. Nintendo has gone so deep into becoming Corpo, that they aren't Nintendo anymore. The fact that they went so far as to lazily name their new system the "Switch 2" just makes the depressing reality sink in more.

Did anyone notice optical sensors on both joycons? I suspect that's the new gimmick for this generation
Optical sensors? Like infra-red?

not happening lol
There's always going to be a way. Just look at the OLED and the Lite models, they already got hacked after launch, and this is definitely going to be the case for the Switch 2.
