After months of countless leaks, Nintendo has finally lifted the curtain on the highly anticipated successor to the Nintendo Switch.

In a short teaser trailer we are given a brief look the new system unsurprisingly titled the Nintendo Switch 2. We also get a glimpse at a new Mario Kart game running on the system and confirmation of backwards compatilbility with Nintendo Switch software and game cards.

We also see the new joycons being pushed along like a traditional computer mouse, further fueling the rumor that the joycons will support a "mouse mode".

Alongside the new trailer, a Nintendo Direct focused on Switch 2 has also been announced for April 2nd.

You would certainly improve your chances doing that, but no guarantee it'll be hacked. Nintendo was pretty good keeping the Switch secure on this generation. Only one tiny flaw on firmware 4.0 or something, corrected soon after. The RCM exploit wasn't Nintendo's fault.

I will be pre-ordering, partially for this reason. The other part being that I'm curious to see how Nintendo will handle the Ecosystem this time.

Okay, so, after the initial excitement, I realized the Switch 2 will probably come with a regular LCD screen, right? No OLED?

If that's the case, I'm out. I'm not gonna play games on a shitty LCD screen in 2025.

I mean this is most likely the new sharp LCD which the newer tech can match blacks to the oled like what the PS Portal uses, it has more pop in color too it's not your 2013 tech model that was in Switch 1

I called it a dumb idea then and I am calling it a dumb idea now. Nintendo has always strayed from calling their systems with numbers, the fact that they are doing it now shows that they've moved in a different direction. I am just adding that as more reasons to dislike the current Nintendo.

I personally also didnt stray with the new name, but I honestly couldnt believe what they wouldve actually called it. Hearing Super Switch or Switch U doesnt seem right to me at all. I have a feeling that there actually might be a revised name in the future similar to the NX for the Switch

I hope they do, but Nintendo tends not to rename after announcements, so I think we are getting the Switch 2. Which is just disappointing

The name might be disappointing for now, but I am just hoping that with tbe current streak of Nintendo in terms of their recent lineup of games (especially since they put SMRPG, an RPG Paper Mario, and a new Mario and Luigi), they'll at least improve the quality of their new lineup of games.

I still dont understand the criticism behind how the console is the same as the original; what did people expect for it to be?

Yeah I had to watch it a second time to realize it had Nintendo Direct 4/2/2025 like wtf really couldn't just give a launch date this way people can start pre-ordering and they can see if they can meet the demand, they are really dragging their feet with it . Well fingers crossed they have a crazy bunch of launch games unlike year 1 for Switch

Im pretty sure that there will be something to differentiate the systems together, especially with the optical sensors that was shown. The 3D was a decent thing but iirc most of their games in the middle to end of fhe lifespan stopped using it. I might be wrong with this
