I legit have never run into this problem, so I am just going to keep with skill issue. Seriously, it’s not hard to find ROMs.

Yeah, that was a benefit of Vimm’s but it is a skill issue to not find clean roms outside of Vimm’s. There are literally hundreds if not thousands of ROM sites out there. It’s not like there’s only 10 or something. If one sucks, go to another
Honestly, in my opinion, clean ROMs do exist. The No-Intro collection is quite good.

I did know vimms lair before and I get some most of games but not all of them. How sad they went down. Do not worry about it. Most dead games will re-uploaded again on underground, graveyard, horror, gothic, immortal, etc websites (dark sides only like on black social media, forums, etc) will be extreme hardest to take games off far away somewhere around in Europe, Asia, south countries where Nintendo company will do nothing to them. Where DMCA are not there and it are bulletproof like immune to all laws will do nothing to them. :(

This is exactly why sites like Vimm's receiving takedowns, frankly, isn't that big of a deal. I genuinely don't see why people act like the sky's falling when ROM sites that get popular receive DMCAs, when at any given moment there are probably dozens of other places to get ROMs if you just look a bit.
The reason this is being treated as a big deal is becuase Nintendo (Of America obviously, why wouldn't be the other regional divisions.) took down another rom site that was beloved. All they're doing is fucking with pirates and the opposition cries crocodile tears and swearing they will never buy from the corporation anymore (only to do so the very next day) every single time.

Once again, I must stress to anyone getting into emulation, you should NEVER, NEVER EVER, EVER put all your eggs on one single ROM Site (and also why you should NOT be promoting these sites on Tik Tok or YouTube) becuase the more awareness you bring to them, the sooner they get killed off by the Nintendo or Disney's of the world.

i never understood why nintendo took down the eshops, stoped manufacturing the games (basically giving us no choice but to either pirate the old games or buy them off of ebay scalpers [which does not even benefit them]) and then get mad when we pirate games even tho they do not make any money off of the games anymore, smh

Cuz they think that by making it a "service" instead of letting the customer have ownership will stop the spreading of ROMs.
They can fuck off with that mentality.

It's this simple thing called obsolescence, not just the planned variety you see often with companies selling you things like food or drinks. as technology improves and the costs to sell and manufacture go down, so does the reason to keep manufacturing the older (often much more technologically simple and dated product) go down. You can see this already with how computer parts from the 80s and 90s aren't being manufactured today because the needs of the software have grown significantly enough for them to be worthless beyond the era correct software, and the few series of computer parts that were household names back then are being slowly dropped like with how the Intel Pentium and Celeron lines of CPUs were discontinued in favor for the Core and Atom lines as late as last year.

Nothing lasts forever and there's going to be a point where you need to give it up and move onto the next generation of hardware and software, no matter if it affects the consumers, which is something that comes with every company that dabbles in electronics unless you have deep pockets on the level of something like the US Government, which keeps paying Microsoft to support Windows XP for their personal infrastructure.

And this is the wrong answer to the question, as what they do with "reselling" in massive air quotes is irrelevant to why the big three console manufacturers don't even sell hardware from the previous generations and only shows how assblasted they are with what the company does.

I was surprised this wasn't already on the main webpage, but I assume it might be due to some of the content that was available on the site. But good to see people are talking about it. Personally, I mainly used this site just to browse and read about the games; both from nostalgia of those I've played but also to dig through history to see what games I missed to experience.

It's a rare thing to see a website without any ads and fully driven by passionate people. Which is why this feels extra sad. But I hope the website will still remain just without the downloads.

I literally have an entire section of my bookmarks filled with ROM sites. I am shocked anyone would call themself a “pirate” and not be ready to sail into different territories
You claim that you have a list of sites with ROMs, can you tell me any of them? I've only had the Wii for a short time and I'm having a hard time finding ROMs after the fall of Vimm's
