Nintendo takes down the Breath of the Wild randomizer mod from Gamebanana

Another day, another Nintendo DMCA takedown against fan-made content.

Just a few minutes ago, Nintendo issued a DMCA takedown notice against a widely known and popular Randomizer mod for Breath of the Wild made by Waikuter and hosted in Gamebanana. Effective immediately, the mod in question has been completely removed from Gamebanana with the quote "This Mod has been trashed for a rule violation", with the rule violation in question being listed as "DMCA Takedown".

The full message for the DMCA takedown is also displayed thereafter:

It's important to note that, as it has been the case with other recent takedowns seen from Nintendo, this was issued from the domain "mm-nintendo.com", which is a MarkMonitor operator for Nintendo themselves to issue these kind of take downs and notices.

It seems that Nintendo has started to handle takedowns in what looks to be an automated/bot process through MarkMonitor, as several other places with mods and Nintendo assets, like imagery and its characters, have been receiving the same notices from that mm-nintendo.com domain, like in the case of Gmod and its takedown of 20 years-long Nintendo assets, and it's worth mentioning that romsites have also been receiving these particular notices as of late from the same domain.

I really don't like this stance of telling people to emulate if you think they shouldn't support a company. Not supporting a company really should mean not engaging with their media at all. It's such a half measure to say you're taking a stance while happily taking the spoils of a company you hate so much.

I'm not trying to say that's what you're making out here (and I apologise if I'm not getting my point across entirely succinctly, it's 1am lol) but it's something I see around here so much nowadays. If people hate Nintendo so much, go buy and play other games. That's really the long and short of it in my mind.
Exactly this.

People from both Rare and Argonaut have given multiple interviews that contradict your interpretation. DYKG has some pretty good ones if you're interested.

For example, Miyamoto famously suggested Rare remove hurting people from Golden Eye 007, but of course they chose to do their own thing. Rare also stated that they were pretty excited about getting to use Star Fox. Ultimately though Rare's quality began to decline so Nintendo was unwilling to invest more money in them, so Microsoft snapped them up, and as expected their future titles continued to decline in quality despite Microsoft not making any changes at the studio at that point. I've never heard that Miymoto didn't like DK64 or thought it wouldn't sell, but your suggestion that he must have been jealous over its success because Japanese people are xenophopic is in itself xenophopic.

You also made it seem like Miyamoto cancelled Star Fox 2 out of spite while everyone involved confirmed it was because the 3d graphics weren't good enough compared to the ps1 at the time. Not to mention Star Fox 64 only began development after Star Fox 2 was cancelled. Also, the reason Star Fox 2 took so long to come out was because the rights were in legal limbo after Argonaut shut down. It's amazing it was released at all.

Not sure what you're point about Gunpei is, the fact he left Nintendo or the car accident? Either way, Miyamoto actually prefers to bike to work but Nintendo won't let him because of concerns for his safety, not because he demands it.

Miyamoto DOES have a bad habit of up ending the tea table, which he admits, but he doesn't get to run the whole company. Also n-Space didn't work on Star Fox 64 3D, it was developed by Q-Games (which is run by the lead developer on the first two star fox games). Q-Games is located in Japan while n-Space is in Florida so I doubt this individual could have worked for both studios.

What is the source to these claims about Miyamoto?
I've tried to search something regarding his involvement with DK64 and Star Fox 64, but couldn't find anything.

The only thing I remember is about a interview in which he supposedly criticized the first Donkey Kong Country.
But we all know that this was a misunderstanding made by of a poor translation ; Miyamoto was in fact very excited and involved in the project.

So if the claim is indeed true, I would like to see the source.
