GitLab has taken down the Suyu Nintendo Switch emulator

Suyu-728x410.png

Emulator takedowns continue. Not long after its first release, Suyu emulator has been removed from GitLab via a DMCA takedown. Suyu was a Nintendo Switch emulator forked from Yuzu emulator, which was the high-profile subject of a takedown by Nintendo last month. GitLab deleted Suyu's repository, stating that they'd received a takedown notice for the project. The tongue-in-cheek named emulator still has an official website up, though the Discord is not allowing new members, and the GitLab download page is gone. However, it seems a self-hosted download page is still available.

I see. I still think that supporting emulators of still released consoles are a bad idea. I'm more mad about Citra then Yuzu/Suyu getting taken down.
Oh shut up. The Switch is still waay too overpriced for what you get same with the games. I'm pretty happy with the amount of money I've saved by not having to buy a switch or any games for it, and just emulating instead. I've already wasted enough on the 3ds pokemon games. Nintendo can go suck a dick.

Can't tell me to shut up because I'm stating my opinion out there. I do get what you mean though, piracy for modern gaming is great if the games themselves are becoming too expensive without a better alternative to either laying or buying them.

However, if it's remakes or ports of games you've previously played before, than just stick to what's originally based on. There's no harm in doing it outside of missing a couple of elements from the remake that isn't available for the original release. But then you either have ROM hacks or mods to deal with that. Other than that, it's fine pirating new games you can usually get through other means rather than the intended way.

Every emulator since the SNES has been current with the console it emulates. SNES emulation began in 1994, and ran commercial games in '95. Porject64 began development in 1998. Dolphin was in 2003, and covered 2 generations (GC and Wii). CEMU came out when the Wii U was still supported, and now we are at Ryujinx/Yuzu/Suyu/and the other one I forgot the name of. That's with ignoring all the handhelds and Sony consoles.

Nintendo more like Nintenyoo... wtf? Its our fault they have this much power. Look at Cocomelon with 200m subs on Youtube. We feed it to our kids. Now we can't enjoy the Pokemons as adults and its all our fault.

I was poking fun at how Ryujinx lost it's competition lmao
They really only lost it for like a day. The hydra has already started showing its head and there's a massive amount of decentralized projects that have forked from the fallen Yuzu. Suyu is still one of those heads.

People should wait like a year before using any of these yuzu/citra forks and for yuzu just just ryujinx
You could use both/all of them. They are free and it’s not like they cancel each other out. I am currently running Suyu and Ryujinx. No one needs to be married to a project

so both the suyu site and discord is down

The suyu repository is still up.
Don't know about the Discord tho, I don't usually hang in emu servers.

From a quick glance on their repository, they purposefully removed the Discord server link and changed it to a private chat for suyu.
Most likely this is the best course of action so "you-know-who" doesn't enter uninvited.
