Nintendo apologizes for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet performance problems, new patch released

sadsadasdas.png

When the review embargo for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet lifted, one of the biggest problems both critics and players had with the games was the performance issues. A little under two weeks have passed since then, and it looks like Game Freak is getting around to fixing some of them. A version 1.1.0 patch of the game has been released for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, bringing the first season of ranked battles to the games, as well as patching out select bugs. Included in the patch notes was also an apology from Nintendo, who stated that they are currently working on improvements to the games, in regard to performance problems.

We are aware that players may encounter issues that affect the games' performance. Our goal is always to give players a positive experience with our games, and we apologize for the inconvenience. We take the feedback from players seriously and are working on improvements to the games.

Ever overclocked your switch? If you have, you wouldn't be saying this. Not to excuse the mess, but I ran an overclocked system and the drain wasn't that bad.
I have, and not only didn't it improve the overall performance, the battery still drains faster. I am not saying that you will be able to play for only 10 minutes every full charge, but it still is noticeable, especially when you play on the go during a train ride or something.
(source myself when I had to give it a bit extra power to make Pokemon Legends even a bit more presentable with some mods).

Because nobody talks to him about republicans bathroom habits (Im not even fucking joking, he leget keeps asking people about this in the political threads)
Seems to be an alt account of another user that used to do the same in the past. Then again they all sound the same when they regurgitate what the MSM tells them.

Do your research before going into a product investment rather than rely on brand recognition to make the purchasing decisions for you. It's that simple.

As for your last paragraph, those people are the biggest morons of them all.
I bought the game and I'm having a blast — last time I had this much fun playing a Pokémon game was X/Y.
Technical issues are just part of the experience and they do not ruin the overall enjoyment.
I have 60 hours on it and the worst thing happening is a couple of times a pokémon popped in in front of me and NPCs running at 5fps if you're not near them.

I couldn't care less about what you think of me as long as I'm having fun — and Scarlet/Violet deliver: they have by far the most captivating rival since who knows how long, they introduced 100+ new pokémon and forms which you can use if like me you were getting tired of the same ones, gyms being just one of the many things you can do makes it one of the most dynamic Pokémon that has ever been made and if in that particular moment you lack motivation to fight a gym you can simply go doing something else.

If people really believe they can just reduce everything to "muh performance", well, please, go ahead, but don't try to make it sound like we all should share the thought, because I sure as hell don't.

That being said, I expect them to fix the game and if they don't I'll be sure to remember it when considering whether to buy or not the next Pokémon. So it's not like I overlook the technical issue the game has, but when people like you try to frame it as a monodimensional situation in which you only have the technical side to evaluate, I really can't comprehend where you come from — because there are so many things that go along with a gaming experience and it's so stubborn to stop at poor performance. It's not like the game is unplayable, and it has lots of high-quality elements.

Then they get sued for broken switches. Nintendo wouldn't allow it anyway, it's not like there is an API endpoint on the switch to simply overclock the system.
There is literally a mode inbuilt to the software to oc the switch but devs just don't use it

But even on a overclocked system performance is still bad. This says the code itself is poorly written probably under the gun from the fat cats on top of game freak and not the poor devs

Woah, that's a bit harsh don't you think?

There's plenty of people who like the game itself but are disappointed about the technical quality.

You do realise that you just insulted millions of people right?

Most people probably are not on top of gaming news. Imagine how many parents who are buying this for their kids for Christmas.

And then there's people like my who knows that the game is in a very unpolished state but knows that Game Freak will patch out most of the issues in time.

Then there's collectors and diehard fans who simply don't care enough about the state of the game, they are going to buy it regardless.
This, right here, is why more games are coming out broken. "Oh, they'll fix it after launch." "I don't mind the game-breaking bugs, I like the game." No accountability and no holding the company to a higher standard. People buy it anyway, so the cycle never ends.

Sad part is this is a fucking nintendo game. They usually come out with some insane polish

You're not wrong. The thing is that there may have been a tight crunch on this title. Pokémon games have been coming out pretty raw the past few releases.

It looks like a GREAT game, but after being burned more than enough times, I can't justify spending the full asking price knowing there's a pattern to this.

the shitty part is that this guy is actually making me feel a modicum of guilt for saying that the pokemon fanbase has no critical thinking skills. i'm gonna stick by it but i wonder if this gut feeling will go away.

Well if you don't want to read what others have to say I'm sorry but you're on the wrong place, and with the wrong attitude.

I would agree, but there is a manga called Pokémon Adventures that is actually quite good.
I have a confession to make...
...I really enjoyed Pokemon 2000. Mind you I've not watch it since it's release, but I remember being really surprised how much I liked it.

  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
