OP
are you for real? even the other day you were saying shovelware is crap and shouldnt be released on the switch and not a single game out of those four you putted on your thread is even half as bad as this one but you would have supported this one? are you for real? lol

This is an FMV nostalgic game and the reason why FNAF now exists so it's more than just a shovelware. Poor comparison to make, Pedro.

there is no violence or carnage the entire game is an interactive movie wich some girld get kinda in underwear while being chased by some killer with a hook and it looks like softporn type of game without any softporn lol
Manhunt 2 was censored on every platform.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Of course Nintendo refused to license this game, they're a company for children. Have you ever played night trap? It's a soft core porn without the hairy bopping man ass.
But Nintendo said they wanted to cater to "pro" gamers.

I guess you'd have to be a pro to play with one hand and jerk off with the other.

I'm loving how people are saying it's a form of censorship.. Which makes NO sense. Why would they allow Senran Kagura if they were so hell bent on "censoring" their systems? The shovelware excuse is Moot. In what way does Nintendo NOT approving this terrible game on their shop show disdain toward third party? I'm not seeing any legitimate argument outside of censorship... And even then there's nothing to back it up.

While this thread seems to be built on hypocrisy and belittling, I'm still conflicted. One one hand, I agree that Nintendo should stop arbitrarily censoring. No censoring at all, isn't realistic for any company. On the other hand, it not like they don't have mature and edgy games and I'm not sure they should just allow everything.

Rather they allow everything or not, people are going to complain either way.

Update for those of you interested, Dev's have come out and when asked what Nintendo's reasoning was they said "Time frame issues. That's all that we'll say about it going forward. It sucks but nothing we can do about it so moving on."

Thoughts?
I'm going to presume that he meant that Nintendo said something like "it's not the right time to release a game like that," which is Carnagie-speak for "your game is irredeemably terrible and we don't want it anywhere near our servers"

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Honestly, it should be re-released. What harm could it do? It's cheesy, dated, and harmless. Kids nowadays see much worse and do more horrible things at younger ages.
Then again.....
You can argue the same thing about the Hitler Murder game for the NES.

Sadly, in both cases, there are very valid reasons why a game cannot be re-relased now.

Not to mention that the SJW would not be very happy with this game, and understandably so. Nintendo may ignore most of their concerns, but it's pretty clear that something like Night Trap could cause a really bad PR incident.

Think of it. All you need is one mother with access to news reporters discovering her 11-year-old son playing this game on a Switch for there to be a shitstorm that hits national news and public awareness.

Ya, ya, ya, i know...
Nintendo is a family friendly company and i'm actually happy they remain that way. But i still don't understand why some games that are violent still end up on their consoles. They just confuse me sometimes

Maybe because the "family friendly" thing, is at least a little bit over-exaggerated?
I figured they were somewhat over the whole "family friendly" thing since the nintendo switch from what i have seen in advertisements have mainly adults in them, which are the ones who would be buying this game in the first place so i don't see the problem with releasing it on the switch. That and i personally think it has nothing to do with the game being good or bad.

Night Trap will be receiving a remastered release (SD high quality) on PS4 for those interested.

I tried playing this on a 3DO emulator and didn't make it far, it's a trial and error game, have to remember what works and what doesn't. So, PS4? If it's cheap I'll buy it and see if I'll fare better. Is there nudity? It comes off as classic B-movie horror from the 80s that had a comedic edge, looking like something Fred Olen Ray or Jim Wynorski would direct...on a lower budget, and it was some hack and not Roger Corman's production company.

I think everyone is sort of missing the point here. I find it much more likely it's nothing to do with quality or content. There were a handful of M-rated titles that made it onto the wii u and wii respectively. They said in a Senate hearing that it would never be on a Nintendo system, and it isn't. It's much less flattering to turn your back on what you say in a courtroom than to turn your back on releasing one title. Is it the best call, maybe not, you can split hairs. However, they are staying true to the words of their (then) president.

Edit:
Relevant clip is here (with timecode)
Whole hearing is here, the bit I'm referring to is 1:25:55:

Their statements about violent video games are certainly representative of the period and have changed, but he stated for the record that Night Trap will never be on a Nintendo system and it makes sense they would stick to it. Howard Lincoln is a lawyer, after all.
