So i never actually saw a news article relating to when the PS4 sales jumped up but in any case, we should all be aware now the the PS4 has sold over 2.1 Million consoles worldwide since its recent release in most other countries around the globe.
Then of course we had the usual rebuttal of "Ha, take that Xbone, love to see you catch up now."
Well… looks like they already did
Microsoft said it has sold more than 2 million Xbox One consoles since the new video game system launched on Nov. 22.

The gaming system has been sold out at many major retailers for the past two weeks. Microsoft said the average of 111,111 units Xbox units sold each day set a record for the company. At one point, customers were ordering more than 1,000 Xbox One consoles each minute on Amazon.com, according to John Love, Amazon's director of video games.
Microsoft said it will be expanding its Xbox One inventory to meet the consumer demand ahead of Christmas.
Now, I know sales articles usually aren't well accepted and hated on most of the time, but there are a few key points o discuss here.
First off, Both of these console titans are setting ENORMOUS sales records, which is even exceeding the predictions of most Marketers that continue to think the Home Console market is dying.
Second, Both consoles are absolutely decimating any sales figures of Nintendo's Wii-U at the moment, a console that had a head start of over a Year.
Lets put it this way. The Wii-U has lifetime sales of about 4Million. in less then a month, both consoles have already met half of that, and together have matched the sales of Nintendo's Home console, which absolutely no one expected to happen.
And third, Both consoles are still selling at enormous rates. In fact, it is predicted that by the beginning of January, both consoles will have sold a whopping 3 MILLION EACH.
In my opinion, both are completely worthy consoles. Fanboyisms set aside, i like them both, and would like to see both platforms excell. I predict that these two giants will remain Neck and Neck for most of their lifespan.
So now begs the question.
Where does that leave Nintendo?
Thoughts?

Not sure if the quote about the WiiU was necessary to add other than to instigate a flame war. Even if you didn't want that to happen, you know it will...

The PS4 passed 2 million a week or so ago, right after it launched in Europe. The Xbox One is trailing the PS4 by about a week... which makes perfect sense, since it came out a week later.

Honestly, I think it's way too early to call it in any way, shape, or form. The PS4 and Xbox One are both performing extremely well right now, but what matters most is how well they can maintain that momentum. After all, the Wii U sold 3 million or so units by last March... and took the rest of the year to get to 4 million. It doesn't matter how fast you come out of the gate if you immediately trip and fall.

That being said, if the competition between the PS4 and Xbox One stay this close, we may just have to call this the "necks" gen.

There isn't much to say about this, it is great news for gamers all around. With numbers like that anyone who early adopted either console is pretty much guaranteed strong third party support over the next few months and coming years despite both consoles having a pretty weak launch lineup.

I do not care about how many consoles are sold better than one another. I just buy the console that I like and the games that I want to play. Sony and Nintendo remains in my tradition to purchase forever. Microsoft is a no no for me and never will because I have PC.

Always good to see successful launches like this.

Though it's still next to impossible to get a PS4 in my area, as well as online >.< Only downside of this...lol
Funny story about that, I'm primarily a cart attendant at Target, and I just happened to be back near electronics (I get shifts back there every once in awhile).
My friend Derek came from the back room with 4 PS4's in his hands. I sat there, watched him stick them in the case near the playstation section and said "we just get those in?"
He was like yep, now watch this.
I shit you not those things sold out in less then ten minutes. I left for ten minutes to check the front for carts, got bored, walked back and all 4 were freaking gone, along with a shelf of different titles, extra dualshock 4's and other accessories.
Holy hecky.
EDIT: and this was on like Tuesday. No special day, just a Tuesday.

Every now and again Newegg will list the PS4 in stock, but you have to buy it in one of their $600+ bundles >.<

EDIT: And speak of the devil, PS4 was in stock at Amazon and I was able to grab one! :yay:

Mabe they are neck to neck now, but I think it`s only the case because it is nearly impossible to buy PS4. It was nearly imposssible to buy one without preorder and even all preordered PS4 aren`t delivered here. Getting a xbox one was not such a problem.

Let's hope these 2 keep it up, a good start but it can fall of pretty quick. I'm hoping for XBone personally but can't see them win in the long end, PlayStation is just such a strong brand and they have a very loyal userbase.

Okay...seriously, guys. I want to know the reason all these people buy these consoles. It can't be that hard to make an honest tally among them...

I know this site isn't exactly unbiased, but with all the predictions and such, the PS4 predictions are nowhere even closely to what I would have expected. And that the xbone matches that sales record is even MORE of a riddle to me. So...WTF am I missing here???

Err...people like games?

I know the whole thing behind not buying a console at launch and all, but some people don't care as long as there are worthwhile launch titles to play. The launch titles for the PS4/XBone included CoD/BF/AssCreed, there hasn't been a lot of console launches with best sellers like these being launch titles.

it's hilarious how the ps4/xbone are classified as next gen when all they both are is just an overclocked versions of it's predecessors :rofl2
Huh?

PS4 and X1 have nothing in common with PS3 and X360. They are too radically different.

If anything, Wii U is just an overclocked version of Wii and GameCube from spec point of view.

The PS4 is superior in specs, has a much better online subscription (free games!) I don't give a crap about media entertainment, I don't care about the Xbox One exclusives, yet somehow i'm still deciding between the PS4 and Xbox One...
