--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

the original version 1 of the app does have a auto update feature. once the update completes you have to quit and restart the homebrew to see the new version. enjoy, and let me know of any bugs or feature requests.

I might have some free time coming up net month any suggestions on what I should "try" to work on? Or should I do any update for one of my older homebrew? Or should I start something totally new?
Hi again. I am back after a really long hiatus (had to migrate). I will be testing this and Newo Fox!

@newo! I got to say, i find Newo Fox one of the most cool looking and beautiful original homebrew games i have played on the Wii. Very well done. It's a shame for me that i could not play this the moment it got out, like i did with Newo Sky.

The Star Fox vibe is very present. It feels and plays really nice. May i suggest adding tilting to the ship, and maybe even barrel roll? B-). I find myself trying to do it and pressing the L/R buttons every minute

BTW, i can help you complete a spanish translation, and maybe even music, if you happen to like any of my tracks. Lemme know what you think.

Will there be more options? Enemies? More collisions? Power ups?

Nice job! :yay:

Thank you for appreciating my work. Always glad to have a satisfied homebrew player! :)

Yes, I have been trying to make a starfox clone for ages and this is the best I have done so far. Newoshooter was my original attempt roughly 7 years ago.

I will think about adding a barrel roll the next time I look at updating the code.

I think there is already a spanish translation in the language menu. The game checks the language of your wii and automatically selects that one but it can be manually changed.

There are 4 difficultys so far but I am definitely looking into ways to make the game harder (since people have complained about it). If you have any suggestions I will be glad to hear them. What more collissions would you like to see?

Nice to know! Something to look forward to for a future release.

Yeah, though i set it manually, since my Wii is already in English by choice, and was checking to see how natural it sounded. I noticed that it is pretty incomplete, hence my offer to translate everything, even if there isn't a ton of text.

Oh, to be more specific, the ship seems to go through many of the supposed obstacles (without any damage), which kinda lowers the difficulty, since the enemy ships don't seem to attack per se. Also, the boss dies very quickly (doesn't seem to fire back, either?), but it's okey, i guess is because it is a work in progress that keeps getting better whenever you got the time to improve it.

P.S.: the boss rush is a pretty nice option!

There are some obstacles in the game that are "decorations" especially in the ground levels. The trees and plants are not collidable at all but I will try to tighten up the collisions on the big objects. The enemy ships do not fire on purpose. I might need to add a new enemy type that shoots.

This is the translation table (not really alot of text in the game);

{ //English
"CONTINUE", "RESTART",
"OPTIONS", "EXIT GAME",
"COLOURS", "RESET ALL",
"SCREENSHOT", "BACKGROUND",
"RANDOM", "LANGUAGE", "ACHIEVEMENTS", "LEADERBOARD" , "DIFFICULTY", "LEVEL", "THANK YOU FOR PLAYING"
};

{ //spanish
"CONTINUAR", "REINICIAR",
"OPCIONES", "EXIT GAME",
"COLORES", "RESET ALL",
"CAPTURA DE PANTALLA", "BACKGROUND",
"RANDOM", "IDIOMA", "LOGROS", "MARCADOR", "DIFICULTAD", "NIVEL", "GRACIAS POR JUGAR"
};

Unfortunately, when i tried on Dolphin it seemed like the view was always pointing downward (using FreeLook I was able to change the direction and see the world). I may have done something wrong.

But I watched a video and saw enough screenshots to really appreciate the visual style. Nice work.

yall im torn... ive been hacking away at tales of phantasia GBA (the USA version) and have so many documents of reverse engineering i've done
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I just found out that the EU version is better in literally every way, better sound quality, better lighting, and there's even a patch someone made to make the text look nicer
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
Do I restart now using what i've learned on the EU version since it's a better overall experience? or do I continue with the US version since that is what ive been using, and if someone decides to play my hack, it would most likely be that version?
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
@TwoSpikedHands, I'll preface this with the fact that I know nothing about the game, but, I think it depends on what your goals are. Are you trying to make a definitive version of the game? You may want to refocus your efforts on the EU version then. Or, are you trying to make a better US version? In which case, the only way to make a better US version is to keep on plugging away at that one ;)
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.

do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
Karma177 @ Karma177: @The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really...
