A member of TX has found a new DVD drive inside a Corona system.

The drive was found in a 360 which has a MFR date of 08/2012.
The drive itself has a MFR date of June 2012 and has a firmware version of 1532.

    As for the NAND.
It's pretty much the same eMMC chip as the Phison one in Corona v2 systems.
Although those are only found on 4GB consoles.
The new chip likely found in a 16MB console (250GB HDD)

Theres no clear info on whether this new Samsung chip can be dumped with conventional tools or the special SD method used for Corona v2 systems.

Safe to say that for now, the DVD drive is unhackable as it obviously would be the successor of the Liteon 1175 which isn't easy to hack either.

Hopefully the drive shouldn't take too long. 1175 version of it, apparently only took so long because of no way to write to the pcb and then a pcb needing to be made with hardware that can handle the encryption for the drive firmware. Replacements are almost out and this is another 16d5s, just different firmware, so pcb should still be good.

Drives do seem to be piling up though.

LT3 for the 78/79 Hitachi is still not done.
    1175 is not out yet.
Hitachi 0500/0502, not done (I know the odde can do them, with rgh to grab files), but no custom firmware for the actual drive yet. Work suspended while work on other drives is done.

Now this new drive appears. I wonder if we will ever see custom firmware for the 0500/0502.

I don't think that Hitachi's are getting a LT soon.

Iirc Hitachi drives are hard to come by in a Slim.

Yeah, they are pretty rare. 0500 came out, then nothing, then then 0502 appeared. Like there is only a small batch of them every so often. Still sucks for the people with one, who don't want to rgh.
