Just a thought - this update simply detects whether or not your savefile was ticketed by your console, right? If that's the case, couldn't someone make a patcher program to let people patch their own save files, thereby letting them run the Twilight Hack?
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by this. The Twilight Hack was installed using normal Wii save data management functions. If Nintendo disallowed saves from other Wiis, they'd be pissing off a lot more than Homebrewers, and their changelog would have mentioned it.

Actually, they do prevent you from transferring saves in some way or another.

Some saves can't even be backed up to the SD card.

I wonder if Waninoko's save tools would help reinstall the Twilight save....

Is there a Japanese update like this?

I have a Wiikey'd Japanese Wii and Scared to mess around with updates because I can't read Japanese.lol

it let me copy my own zelda save, so there must be some way to tell a legit from a fake, wouldn't it be possible to fix this?

I guess the system checks all the saves everytime it boots, and deletes those that are "bad". If so, using Waninkokos Savegame Installer will be useless.

Good thing is, if the HBC is still working it means that the trucha bug hasn't been blocked.

"Data Management / Storage Solutions

- USB Hard Drive support

- Ability to load Virtual Console games from an SD card without it residing in the Wii main memory."

What do you think? lol

Interesting changes, but I'm not updating just yet...

All this shit about the update deleting the Twilight hack is a load of crap, it simple stops the save from working after you have updated to the 3.3u/e.
The save is left intact.

idk twilight princess asked me to make a new save

I wonder if this blocks game saves you can download online like from wiisave...or even worse datel's powersaves...the people that bought that are gonna be pissed

The "hole" has been patched with this update. It will not delete the save but the Zelda exploit and any Trucha signed discs will no longer function if you let your system be updated.

And so the cat & mouse firmware game continues...

Listen Ninty, I bought your product. You have my money. Now 'F'-0ff with your supposed upgrades and firmwares(lock-0uts).

If i want to drive over it on the road and crush it to bits or eat a fried egg off of it, it's my business. This Wii belongs to Mii.

They're pulling that old $ony, M$ crap. If a brilliant mind has come up with a SOLUTION to IMPROVE your stagnant device, so be it.
Just let it happen. Or be like the rest(PSP etc.) and COPY the Homebrew geniuses(D_A & Mat.) and implement or include innovations in future updates and claim them as your dev's ideas.

meh....

i won't be updating. If this doesn't make my overall experience BETTER, then what's the point.
Get a grip Ninty pleease....Don't be like the rest.

STFU Nintendo is doing what they need to do to protect their IP from being stolen. You'd do the same thing if some ass hat is stealing food from your house
"STFU?".... well that was charming. I think everyone here realizes what/why Nintendo attempts to close off the likes of Waninoko's work.
But, tell me, why are you here, involved on this great forum after 400 odd posts? Unless it's to surround yourself with the rest of us "ass hats".
I don't condone stealing of any sort but after a lot of hard work by very talented people, i don't think there should be "lockout" type firmwares that prevent me from playing my back ups or try out some pretty neat homebrew on offer.
Embrace innovation, don't stifle it.

Do you constantly fail at life? everyone here uses that same retard excuse of "homebrew homebew homebew" "My backups." At least man up and say you're using the exploit as a wad installer to get VC/WiiWare games and stop lying to yourselves.
