A simple cheat was discovered by a redditor 30 years after the game was released! The cheat lets you continue where you lost your life by pressing a + start on the main screen.

Yeah, this isn't new at all, I've known this for a while.

I tried the cheat myself, and it works. However, it sends you back to the beginning of the world in which you died, meaning if you died in 2-3 and use the code, you'll start at 2-1.

Still far more handy than having to start all the way at 1-1 again.

That was printed in nintendo fun club magazine.in about 86. Pre nintendo power. I think issue 3. Mario can do a single backstroke if you change directions quick while swimming. I read that in the eighties.
