Gaming New Super Mario 64!

Since we already got New Super Mario Bros., wouldn't it be nice if Nintendo continued their "New" series, reinventing other Mario classics like Mario 64? It'd be cool. Something like Mario Galaxy, but the worlds would be large zones that you can explore (like the mario galaxy beach level, for example) rather than planetoids you traverse in a linear-ish way. You know, more like the original Mario 64.

well, the New! series aren't remakes so I think that would be a bad idea.
Maybe a New! Super Mario 3D. Gameplay exactly like 64 but with levels and story being all new.

Personally, I would want another Mario Sunshine, that's my favorite 3D mario.

Virtual console. Bam done. NSMBW was technically original, so it was ok for them to make a full game out of it. If they were to make something like this, theyd have to make large graphical changes to it. Even then, i wouldnt pay a full 50 bucks for the game.

Nintendo only did "New" series to bring back the sidescrolling games. No need to do the 3D ones at all.

Mario 64 was bought back for Mario Sunshine (same game, just with the FLUDD).

I'd say Mario Galaxy was different to Mario 64, MG was more of a 3D version of the linear 2D games where Mario 64 to me didn't really feel like a traditional Mario game.

Yeah, Galaxy 2 will be released soon, but I'm talking about the distant future... I mean Galaxy was great -not to saw awesome- but I kind of miss the exploration element most Mario 64 levels had. You know, having a big world that can be freely explored, instead of the linear-ish progress most Mario Galaxy levels have (maybe that'll change in Galaxy 2
