New Game: Trolling Pedophiles

So I have this setup that'll grab the IP address, hostname, browser, OS, and misc info about somebody when they visit my link. I've had this setup for years and only used it for various things (to find if a forum account was a dupe, etc.) but then a friend and I got the bright idea to join a random chat room, use a name that sounds like something a 12 year old girl would use, and then get people to visit the link and act like they got caught in a sting or something. It was fucking hilarious.

So I figured I'd do it again and get some pics for GBATemp's amusement. Maybe do it some more if there's any demand.

So I have this script on my site. It appears to be a link to an image, that instead gives an HTTP error.

But in actuality, it's some .htaccess trickery.

It leads to a PHP script that records some info about the user to a text file, and then spits out a fake error message.

The "ID" is some text I can insert in the URL to mark it. The saved file has that bit of info, as does the saved file. This is so I can send different links to different people at the same time, and tell which log is from which person.

Then I run the IP through maxmind.com to get a general geographical area, maybe look up the weather in their area for extra kick, etc.

I'd say that when I told people I was 12, 9/10 of them either completely cut out any creepy stuff they were doing, or signed out/blocked me immediately. Of the ones that were left, a few of note...

3 Guys offered to jerk off for me on camera. One would not stop sending invites.
2 Guys were Indian and totally confused by the idea of pedo stuff and legality.
2 Claimed they were older women that wanted to cuddle me naked or something like that.
1 Guy said he would kiss my feet.

I don't let it get nearly enough to sexual stuff, I just wait for them to ask for a pic in general sometime during the greeting. Remember that this is real life, not the movies. IP addresses are not linked to actual people or home addresses in any public way, I don't have any legal authority to conduct a sting, there's no fucking way I'm going to set up a meeting with any of these people, etc.

Specifically for laughs on the name itself. Apparently it's playing off some well-known porn site, I assume to trick people into taking nudes of themselves for him or something.

Like what? IP addresses aren't actually publicly linked to houses (I'm just playing off the common fear), and this is a room anybody can join with any name, there's no registration and there doesn't appear to be any logs. All I've actually got is a public IP, timestamp, and a screenshot of somebody asking me for a picture.

It's an amusing thought but not really that entertaining.

You could have done something like "I'm a stalker and I know where you live" to girls(or to young boys) but the challenge is make them stay in the chat.

2. make her follow a link.
3. tell her something about her place. in other words, be a creep.
4. make sure she/he stays. if she/he leaves because you were too creepy, then it's a fail.

no sexual stuff involved.
