Hello,
as said above, my son owns a N3DSXL and a 3DS Gateway.
I recently successfully installed the firmware 4.2 beta as explained here : http://www.gateway-3ds.com/private-beta-program/.
Now, the N3DS displays the GW "red dragon", and starts directly on the emunand => Nice.
But I realized that the GW red card must always be in the N3DS to make it work.
That is to say, if I loose or damage my GW card, my N3DS is no more usable.
Impossible to access the GW boot menu (to boot on emunand, on sysnand, to format emunand,...) as before.

Could someone tell me how to access this menu (I tried L,R, select, Dpad combinations without success) ?
Or at least how to remove this "direct boot to emunand" ?

Moreover, I don't know why, when I launch "parameters" icon it fails (Nintendo small animation appears, and then dead black screen)...

Need help I believe....
Thx

If you don't want to have to worry about losing your Gateway card - flash a NAND backup from before you installed Gateway's Time Machine (name the backup NAND.bin, boot into the GW menu, hold Up over "downgrade" and press A)

Then follow 3ds.guide/get-started

With the latest firmware it's L + Select
Hello all.
Thanks very much Chaser. Indeed I can access GW menu by pressing L+Select. :yaysp:
That must be the only combination of keys I hadn't tried

Now I'm reassured I'm able to boot on my Sysnand (classic mode), or restore its backup I performed before hacking,...
I think I'm going to have a look at other tutos.

Thanks to all.
