Microsoft has supposedly hired people to say positive things about the XBOX One, on reddit.

The story goes: While at Microsoft for a meeting, Misty Silver saw and overheard some employees on Reddit. She looked at one of the employee’s screens:
“I noticed he was mass-downvoting a ton of posts and comments, and he kept switching to other tabs to make posts and comments of his own. I couldn’t make out exactly what he was posting, but I presumed he was doing RM (reputation management) and asked my boss about it later. According to my boss, MS have[sic] just brought in a huge sweep of SMM managers to handle reputation management for the Xbox One,” Silver reported.

Not sure if this has been posted on GBATemp yet but I thought it was interesting.

There's another rumor spouting about on Microsoft paying Third Party Developers to not show some of their games for the PS4 during E3. Some source being a Neogaf user that has been right a few times... but not all the time... yeeeah....

I love rumor season! ^_^

I saw this posted on /r/gaming earlier this morning--I think rumours spread from hivemind hate trains shouldn't be taken as legitimate insider rumours.

If I remember correctly, this is called astroturfing - and practically every major company does it. This is less a sign of desperation and more business as usual.

Yeah...what Gahars said: every major company has some guys doing the PR. And in this day and age, with people relying more and more on what others on the internet say, it's only a logical outcome that they'll be posting on twitter, making comments on forums like this and so on. In other words: you can leave out the "supposedly" in this thread.

Personally, I don't mind as much. I'd rather have some random employee from MS telling us how great they think the xboxone is going to be (and to be honest: they'll probably have better arguments than the average poster) than having a supposedly unbiased review skewed.

Meh, not surprising. It's not like they aren't allowed to do that even though they work at MS. At least they try to make it look good with all the confirmed and unconfirmed features of the XBone :P

So this is how this generation will go, Sony and MS will doom each other in their competition and Nintendo will slip it's way on top with it's low specs, price and awesome games.

@SylverReZ, I also heard one of the Prince of Persia games was so unfinished that it required the "24/7 online" drm so a puzzle could be done and the game could be finished. And that when the Ubisoft servers were closed the (cracked) game was impossible to finish or something like that
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's extra scummy. Ubisoft nowadays ship out incomplete games like Skull and Bones which was being worked on for nearly a decade now.

I like that games can be fixed after the fact, hate that it's being abused via beta tests... And DLC... I was a 7800 owner back in the day and loved Impossible Mission, turns out I couldn't beat it because it was actually impossible lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I never knew about it at the time but a fixed version was available but you had to mail in your broken copy lol
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
So that version is semi rare
