ROM Hack Messing around with the Rhythm Tengoku TB+ rom. What are these file extensions?

Most of the romfs consists of .zlib files with a few .bcenv files (in /_test), some .shbin, and a few .bcgrp. Oddly enough, the game's audio files are just standard .aac. has anyone come across these in other roms?

I don't actually know Japanese. I'm just looking through it in the hopes that I'll find wherever the text is being stored (so that I can, if nothing else, facilitate a fan translation)
yeah, it would be awesome because i dont think the game will be localized.

Anyway, an user from an spanish forum (elotrolado) was able to decrypt and read the files, but he was unable to re-encrypt them and test the modifications.

What I've found thus far-

.zlib, the file type that the game uses, appears to have been around for a while, some form of compression used in system backends and such (osx uses it). When downloading from the official site, it gives a dll file. There appears to be a way to mess with it using python. if I can get this working, theoretically, we can compress and decompress these files. Only problem is, I'm not a coder...

Decompression of zlib files is go.

If anyone else out there is interested, I used the tool Offzip found here. Looks like we'll be able to recompress as well, though I'm going to need to find where the text is

Maybe you should make a new thread looking for japanese translators and graphic designers.

If you need it, I have a save with the main game completed, all the minigames unlocked and a lot of challenges achieved

finding lots of .sar and some .spb files, neither of which contain the game's text (at least when looking in HxD) These seem to be proprietary (unless Nintendo stores their text in the form of contact lists, and I'd know if they did)
