If you enjoy money then it's a pretty obvious choice.
So if you enjoy money it's the obvious choice to flush 8 months of development costs down the drain and not sell a prototype that's probably already finished?

It was just a prototype. No point on selling it if there's not gonna be a full game coming out.

It's better to just cut your losses and pursue bigger and better projects.

I don't see a disadvantage in selling it. It was ready and the backlash would be way smaller if they said "well it sold really bad sorry guys..." than "THANKS GOD INAFUNE IS GONE NOW WE CAN DROP THIS FRANCHISE AND FOCUS ON STREET FIGHTER AND RESIDENT EVIL"

but hey

Mega Man Legends 3 programming director encourages campaigners

Yoshiyuki Fujikawa, programming director for Mega Man Legends 3, said on Twitter that he’s interested in seeing how things turn out, in regards to the fans campaigning to bring the title back from the dead.

He offered a feeling of support, while at the same time saying he is in not in a position where he could wish campaigners luck. He said that the campaigns may get through to Capcom if fans show a lot of interest. Encouraging petitioners even further, he recalled an instance where fan support led to the release of a Nadesico DVD.[/p]

This might actually work!

There are almost, maybe even more than 9700 servbots registered now.
The outlook is looking better with continued responses from developers like Fujikawa and CC2.

how many servbots do they want?
Rumour has it the desired figure is 25000.
If everyone who liked the facebook group 'GetMeOffTheMoon' made the effort to register on the devroom and became a servbot, that's more than enough attention directly given to Capcom.

You're late, it didn't work. Crapcom decided that fans didn't matter anymore.
