ROM Hack MapleStory DS - English Translation Project.

UPDATE 02/05/2010

-Items/Equips and their descriptions are fully translated
-Menus are fully translated
-Hints are fully translated
-Monsters are fully translated
-NPC Names are fully translated
-Taxis are fully translated
-Skills are fully translated
-Areas are fully translated
-Area descriptions are fully translated

Basically everything other than story has now been translated and hacked into the game.

Private tests are currently taking place, and a translation patch (excluding story) may possibly be released soon.

So does that mean that the patch excluding story might be released today?

Will the translation patch work on the already patched rom? (that patch that fixed the game)

It depends on how they distribute the patch.


If they do it the smart way (Clean ROM as source, Translated ROM + AP Patch as target) people would need to patch a clean ROM just once. However, this will mean that people who -only- have an AP Patched ROM will need to find a clean ROM again.
If they do it the not-so-smart way (AP Patched ROM as source, Translated ROM as target) people would need to AP patch their ROM then apply Translation patch.

Or they can just release one version and let people get their own clean ROM.


If they release multiple patches, n00bs will flood the forum 'AMG!! I KANT PATCH TEH ROOM!! IT SEZ NOT RITE FILE!!!!!" as they try to use Patch "B" on ROM "A".

This is great. really. Just wondering, If you can, can you estimate how long will it take to completely translate the story section of maplestory? Thanks alot if you answer, If not, then no problem.

Considering how there is over 500 text documents containing story, that would be a hard estimate to make since I'm not going to open every single one up and calculate.

Well i looked at every single file, and just doing google translating took me three hours, but that is computer doing it.
I personally think the time will be 10 times that. And Engrish sucks, it's like reading an old comic book where they don't even understand their own jokes

I'm looking forward to the completion of this patch. I really don't care for the story part, just the idea of knowing what items I have and what I have equipped is good xD.
