Tried this before around a month after the game came out as I had no hope of a western release, but everyone was dead set that it was going to be localized at least for the Vita. Looks like that isn't going to happen, so I'm going to try this again. I know very little programming but can definitely help with actual translations. The problem, as mentioned from someone a while back, is "The game used a custom encoding... so its needs a custom table too.. that's most the menu stuff, the story script are encrypted with a 128bit hash inside a PGD file.."

So come on guys! I know it might not seem like it, but there's many people that would appreciate playing this game in English. It's improved so much over Lord of Arcana. If anyone could even point me in the direction of anywhere else I can get help, that would be great also.

No localization's are going to happen.
As such I wish this game could really really be translated. :( ...

Power to you, Translators and Programmers.

Exactly, and everyone was so dead set that this game was going to be localized. Lord of Arcana sold beyond terrible in the states so they didn't want to take a chance with Apocalypse..

As far as I know, nope. :/

Wish I knew some epic mad skills so I could translate all this stuff for everyone.. *sigh*. It's a great game too.

I would like to award your longest and most ridiculous username.
Translations take a long time and lots of people. There is also a better place for this thread.

Would you be kind enough to point me in that direction? If it's another website PM it to me. I just posted this here because it seemed like Digimon World Re:Digitize was getting a lot of attention so I might have been able to ride it's traffic. Thanks!

I would think this might get more attention in the PSP hacking and homebrew. But this is a nintendo based site, so you might wanna look elsewhere.

Are there tools for extracting data for the text related files?

im planning to do a patch on this and see how it goes.

i got the info on the game and just need tools to get me started on this long and tedious journey.

Why does everyone expect tools for translating like it'll be the easiest thing in the world...?

Somebody has to make a tool, specific for each game, that can extract text and edit it easily. Without it, you'd need a program like UMDgen to open the iso file up, extract the game's files, then use a hex editor to edit those files. Then UMDgen to put them back in. Most of the time you'd also need to decrypt the eboot.bin using an app on your PSP to get anything readable from a hex editor.

It's easy enough to do, I've made a full menu patch for Tales of the Heroes: Twin Brave without any prior editing experience, it's just a matter of learning how to do stuff yourself without relying on tools made by others.

ok i went tools hunting and i found an (what seems to be) unpacker. it was from xentax.

after i unpack it and there seems to be a problem. i cant find the files containing the in-game text.

i have madEdit which kenma9123 recommended on his blog/website for rewriting the in-game text

You're not going to translate the game, not because of the lack of tools but because it's a Vita game. You don't have a dump, you don't have a method of launching a dump, you don't have a way to encrypt and sign the patched files and you don't have a method of injecting patches in real-time to avoid re-signing.

At this point in time, it's undoable.

i am not really sure what you are mentioning but i have a copy if the psp version of the game.

and i am just lacking in knowledge of how to go about finding the files that containing the text in-game.

  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I'm not familiar with the technicalities of the differences between the two versions, but I'm wondering if at least some of those differences are things that you could port over to the US version in your patch without having to include copyrighted assets from the EU version
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
@Sicklyboy I am wanting to fully change the game and bend it to my will lol. I would like to eventually have the ability to add more characters, enemies, even have a completely different story if i wanted. I already have the ability to change the tilemaps in the US version, so I can basically make my own map and warp to it in game - so I'm pretty far into it!
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I really would like to make a hack that I would enjoy playing, and maybe other people would too. swapping to the EU version would also mean my US friends could not legally play it
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
I am definitely considering porting over some of the EU features without using the actual ROM itself, tbh that would probably be the best way to go about it... but i'm sad that the voice acting is so.... not good on the US version. May not be a way around that though
  • TwoSpikedHands @ TwoSpikedHands:
    I appreciate the insight!
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@TwoSpikedHands just switch, all the knowledge you learned still applies and most of the code and assets should be the same anyway
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    and realistically they wouldn't

be able to play it legally anyway since they need a ROM and they probably don't have the means to dump it themselves
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
why the shit does the shitbox randomly insert newlines in my messages
  • Veho @ Veho:
It does that when I edit a post.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It inserts a newline in a random spot.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
never had that i don't think
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
do y'all think having an sd card that has a write speed of 700kb/s is a bad idea?
trying to restore emunand rn but it's taking ages... (also when I finished the first time hekate decided to delete all my fucking files )
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@Karma177 that sd card is 100% faulty so yes, its a bad idea
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
even the slowest non-sdhc sd cards are a few MB/s
  • Karma177 @ Karma177:
@The Real Jdbye it hasn't given me any error trying to write things on it so I don't really think it's faulty (pasted 40/50gb+ folders and no write errors)
  • DinohScene @ DinohScene:
    run h2testw on it

when SD cards/microSD write speeds drop below a meg a sec, they're usually on the verge of dying

Samsung SD format can sometimes fix them too
  • Purple_Heart @ Purple_Heart:
yes looks like an faulty sd
  • Purple_Heart @ Purple_Heart:
@Psionic Roshambo i may try that with my dead sd cards

    It's always worth a shot

@The Real Jdbye, I considered that, but i'll have to wait until i can get the eu version in the mail lol
