Gaming Liteon 74850C flashing

i'm buying a banned xbox with a Liteon 74850C drive - it's already been modded with 1.6 and the seller can provide me the orginal firmware

in order to update it to any future firmware do i require the probe tools? (i know i need the probe to dump the firmware but i'm don't believe it's needed for writing) will it just be essentially the same process as flashing a benq drive?

also is it possible to use my previous 20gb hard drive on a banned console?

No you do not need the probe for updating the firmware. The 20 gb drive should work but it will corrupt your profile and you will not have the install feature on a banned console.
