Hooray...

For every one person that really uses l33t, there are 10,000 that use it sarcastically and think they're funny for doing it. In my mind the people that use it and think they're instant comedians online are way worse

Well first there were the truly l33t. Then came the posers who thought using l33t would make them cool. But then everyone was talking l33t, and it lost its l33tn3ss. And then people started making fun of all the posers by paraphrasing l33t and using it in an ironic or sarcastic manner. But then that manner of using l33t became "cool". And now everyone is being sarcastic with l33t, thinking that would make them seem smart, and now it's outdated again.

well technically it's 13/3/07 so uh it's about 30 years till it's really 1/3/37
But then it will be 1/03/37, so once again, no l33t... So let's not be overly purist, let's write teh date the way we want, play by our own rules, and be truly 1337.

Not exactly. The 0 that would precede the 3 in 1/03/37 is insignificant, where as the 0's in 2007 are significant.

Well, if we're going to argue significant versus insignificant, in the month desingation "03", "0" is insignificant, because the only month with 3 in its designation is March, therefore "3" alone has a unique meaning. Whereas years are defined by their entire number, and the '07 instead of 2007 is a matter of general agreement. However, "07" written down has multiple meanings, 7 a.d., 107 a.d., 1007 a.d., 2007 a.d. etc. Meaning, the entire number is significant.

So, if we were to be such purists, the only l33t date in history was March the thirteenth, anno Domini 37., almost 2000 years ago. In order to ever have l33t day in our time, we must be flexible in our date keeping.

Remember , less rigid means more grog
