Hello everyone,

I'm using a 32 GB SDHC card to easily carry around all my backed up Wii games and so far it's working great.

But there is just one game I can't get to work: Kirby's Adventure / Kirby's Return to Dream Land.
I can load and start the game, but whenever I'm in the main menu and select the main mode my Wii freezes.
(You can see a similar problem here, except the music stops and my screen turns completely black)

After wasting my whole weekend trying to find a solution to this problem, I finally gave up and hope you guys can help me out.

First of all some details about my console:
I'm using the latest stable release of WiiFlow (4.2.1) as it allows me to back up and run my own games to/from my SD card.
I've already tried every d2x-cios version combination with base 56/57 (d2x-v10-beta53-alt, d2x-v10-beta52, d2x-v8, d2x-v6) but it's always the same problem.
The hermes cIOS won't even make it past the title screen...

To make sure that it's not my disc/dump being broken, I even tried a different PAL and a different NTSC game dump - still the same problem.

After hours of research I found some information that it might have to do with the "MetaFortress" protection of the game and I even found a gameconfig.txt patch, but I have no idea if WiiFlow supports this file and/or how to make WiiFlow use it.
(I already tried enabling Ocarina and putting the file on the root of the SD, which has no effect?)

Also I've heard that an emulated NAND could fix problems with MetaFortress games, but I never got "NEEK" to work on my Wii
The sneek version from my ModMii always freezes when trying to launch it :glare:

Last but not least, here is the sysCheck of my console:

Code:
sysCheck v2.1.0b19 by Double_A and R2-D2199, Nano

I have exactly the same problem.

Forcing NTSC gets me to the title screen, but then I get a white screen after that.

I've tried multiple dumps, ISOs and trimmed wbfs files, I've tried Wiiflow, USG Loader GX, CFG, and I've tried loading it from "disk" with a Wode. Always the same problem.

It's clearly AP. I wish I knew what to do.

I have the exact same problem here:

I use a 128 GB SDHC, nearly all games run perfect (except Final Fantasy Chrystal Bearers, but that's another story...).

And I also can start Kirby's Adventure, but after the main menu my Wii freezes and stays black...

Has anybody found a solution for this problem? :-(

In Wiiflow, try with these options: ios=224, save_emulation=no (use real wii for gamesave), video_mode=game, language=default, and the remaining options=off (or default).

I had the same problem in usbloadergx. The only way I could get past the menu lock up was to run it with ios 250 instead of ios 224. After that change was made I have not had a single problem with it.

Eventhough the New 3DS XL is more powerful, I still feel like the DS Lite was a more polished system. It's a real shame that it never got an XL variant keeping the GBA slot. You'd have to go on AliExpress and buy an ML shell to give a DS phat the unofficial "DS Lite" treatment, and that's the best we'll ever get I'm afraid.

The phat model had amazingly loud speakers tho.

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite
    for people with beefy hands.
