As we don´t know how Sky emulates cards, we can´t tell as of now, wether or not it can be blocked, so only time will tell.
The card getting blocked is also my only real worry - other than that, it works well and as advertised.

I also just noticed that you have a RWBY avatar, for which I grant you a Like. :yay:

I definitely see the Sky3DS getting some sales, especially once their price drops a bit, if no one else comes out with a better device. Once someone else makes a clone that is capable of overcoming the 10 game limit, the Sky3DS will be a leaf in the wind.
And THAT actually can only be a matter of time, which is why i told a friend of mine to wait a bit before jumping on the sky3ds, but still i don´t believe that many people will wait, now that an opportunity is out, thinking about the slim but real chance of it being blockable soon, closing that window again.

Foxi4 appreciated, you are talking to a diehard-Roosterfan here xD

i can actually see the sky3ds outselling gateway....but mainly down to people not doing their research and assuming they can swap the games......i expect to see a lot of "why my sky 3ds not take more games?" threads soon enough

i thought of that aswell but honestly, if that will be the case it wouldn´t change much from the usual "iz GW compatiblez with X.blarg now???!1 website sez"-atmosphere that you get whenever something happens in the scene...

I figure, even if Nintendo blocks the card on higher versions - SKY3DS isn't gonna vanish immediately unless they did a one-off batch release and are raking in the money to leave to some private island.
So anyone that keeps their 3DS on the current firmware will still be able to use the SKY3DS 'later'.

Really the only risk they run is consumer backlash if a better alternative presents itself.
Lets say a non-limited card comes up and goes for a lower price.
Even if SKY3DS drops their price to compete, people may choose to go for the alternative out of spite.

Yet at the same time, most just want to play their game and couldn't care less which card they'd use.
Aslong as it works and they can play their games.
It'll be interesting to see the first reviews pop up.

yeah except that gateway was more of a niche thing, people looking to buy one and having a 4.x console where generally more aware than the average flashcard buyer and the 4.x limitation gave people more of a reason to do their research before buying....i can see "normal" folks flocking to this only to be left with a buyers remorse

This card intrigues me. I'm getting one.

All the aussies on here, wheres the best place to buy one? I tried on OZ3DS but it won't let me put my cardit card details to pay for it!

We're all assuming that people will continue to go for Gateway in herds and that may not be the case, not with the leaked firmware in mind. 4.5 users don't really have to buy a Gateway, they can just buy the cheapest $5 R4 and have more-or-less the same experience, or am I mistaken?

This list has some Australian resellers. ;) If not those, go for worldwide shipping! :P

I want an official dumbkiddo-FAQ-Page named after your signature just to smear it into the faces of those, who ask stupid xD

Well MT and R4 got thrown out of GWs business quite some time ago, which makes them sit on outdated features without any actual benefit right now, so that´s a downer.
Other from that i don´t see 4.5-lers not staying with Gateway, in fact i am buying one for a flatmate next days, as he wants one too and didnt update his 3ds when he got it a year ago just so he could use it^^

nah the leaked CFW isnt the same experience as gateway.....its more like a R4 deluxe experience XD

plus all the farting about converting games to cia even if i didn't have a gateway i would probably get annoyed with the pissing about and buy one anyway

Sky3DS is a game changer because it works on all firmware versions. I guess Gateway is relieved at the moment that the 10 game limit is included because otherwise no one would buy Gateway anymore.
Let us wait how the sales figures develop in the future and if the current limit is worth it or not.
Online play is no problem with Sky3DS when using a proper game dump. (".3dz")

I am excited while waiting for Gateway to get feature-even.

Made me laugh enough that i probably pee´d a little xD
Gateway still has more and the better features and Sky is the one having to get even, right now it just has the upper hand about target-groups xD

i smell children in our temp... xD

the only children are the people who have a sense of self importance, thinking that the 3ds scene is more than ineffectual nothing ,
only slightly less than 1% of wii users installed the HBC , 3ds scene is nowhere as big as wii scene not even close
they are not losing money or losing sleep over anything we do because 99.9999999% of users will never use any of these cards

Of the 3DS-users between my friends, about 30% got a Gateway and of the people i saw playing Sm4sh at the Gamestop-tournament on Saturday there where 2 out of 11, me excluded... So i either got luck with who i saw or your numbers need some serious overthinking... for the Wii it wasn´t one percent but more 1 in 10 persons, it was just so that not everyone would go around and scream about it if they did. The homebrew-scene with USBloaders basically broke down Wiisales enough and the DS-Scene was even worse. Nintendo got some reasons to become THAT patient with their consoles, not judging how they fail at it, apparently xD

EDIT: Also let´s not forget the fact, that under PROs, ProjectM was played more frequently then Brawl after PM3.0 took of xD

Your numbers are killing me. Let me show you how.

Let's assume, 10 people worldwide buy the Sky3DS.

That means, 0.0000001% of all 3DS owners will buy the Sky3DS.

0.0000001% = 10 3DS owners worldwide
0.000001% = 100 3DS owners worldwide
0.00001% = 1k 3DS owners worldwide
0.0001% = 10k 3DS owners worldwide
0.001% = 100k 3DS owners worldwide
0.01% = 1m 3DS owners worldwide
0.1% = 10m 3DS owners worldwide
1% = 100m 3DS owners worldwide
10% = 1b 3DS owners worldwide
100% = 10b 3DS owners worldwide

There aren't 10 billion people on the planet let alone 3DS'.

PS - Your numbers are injurious to others.
