About the exp. thing even Serebii said that you won't be able to gain Exp. till a particular point in game.
I suggest keep playing until some tutorial part ends.(According to Serebii)
I believe him and I think there isn't any AP thing for levelling up.

There's reports that contradict that, as well as people saying they've got to the second city and still not started gaining exp, so there's obviously a problem.

There's people using SCDS2's that have confirmed that the info is wrong and you should be getting XP.

Was about to say this. Youre supposed to get exp from the get-go. No exceptions so every stop asking the same questions please

You can go to Emulation settings and enable/disable Advanced Bus-Level Timing, maybe this help a bit on the speed problem.

So many people who strongly believed there was no AP in these games, and now they're like OMG I CAN'T PLAY HURRY UP AND FIX!

Do it yourself, or wait for the people who're spending loads of their free time trying to fix it.
It's way more complicated than you'd think.
