In order to encourage children in Japan to stay home, the group is giving away one hundred Super Famicoms with Donkey Kong Country and Final Fantasy 6.
To apply, you just need to live in a household with a child under sixteen years old and be able to cover the postage fees. For more, check the organization’s official site.

The association points out that the consoles might be aged with sunspots, but the machines work and have been cleaned.

I'd be sad if I got a yellowed one :(

Apparently Japan has an incredible surplus of retro consoles. You can't swing a dong without it hitting retro hardware. It's the importing that's expensive.

as MockyLock said, if you buy used stuff from japan it is pretty much always in excelent condition
I bought a yellowed Super Nintendo in the last year with AC adapter, two controllers (one original, one pirated), two games (Mortal Kombat 3 and only a chip of Donkey Kong Country 3) and a NES RF cable for under 40 U$D in OLX. But yes, prices of retro hardware are very much unfair in third world countries.

if the person you are buying from doesnt really know what they have you might be lucky, i got a gba sp ags-101 for 1200 UYU (31.22 USD at the time of purchase, probably less now because the price of USD keeps going up and i paid in 12 installments because i could) it has a couple lines on the screen that might be fixable according to replies i got on a thread i made, seller only said it was a gba sp, but on the pictures i could see it was the ags 101, at that price it was a must buy. importing can also give you strokes of luck, i bought a refurbed n3ds for 120 USD back in 2017, had 240 USD because that's more or less what it would have costed after taxes (it still was cheaper than the 400 most sellers asked for locally), well, there is this law that says music and toys cannot be taxed, and the guys at customs marked my n3ds as a toy, so i basically only payed the 120+30(shipping) the seller asked for. although these are exceptions, not the norm

You are right. I didn't know buying retro games in Uruguay was also a hell as in Brazil. Another retro console i bought for a very fair price was a very yellowed but functional Famicom with all cables and a 64 games in 1 cartridge, produced in the same country where i live in the 90's. And the most ironic is that the guy has a big collection of old consoles and games but for some reason he decided to sell, also in OLX, the Famicom for 45 U$D when here, in Brazil, people use the excuse of retro consoles and games being rare and use to sell this same console with all the cables but without a game for 100 U$D or above.

You are wrong. You will be surprised that many kids would say wow.. that's cool. And to be honest, I dont even like Fortnight. Fortnight sucks!
Fortnite is just a famous battle royale game with crafting mechanics.

same here, although it's not exactly as bad as brazil, but still not as good as something like the us, or even mexico

So, buying retro games in Uruguay is better than Brazil or is the same thing?
marginally better, if i had to put it in numbers, i'd say japan is a 10, the us an 8, mexico a 7, uruguay a 3.1 and brazil a 3, no offense intended to any of those countries

And worst of all is that you are right. And because of the high price of videogames, brazillian and south american companies like CCE and TecToy produced non-licensed and licensed versions of these old hardwares in the 80's and 90's. CCE produced non-licensed versions of Atari 2600 and Famicom while TecToy produced licensed versions of Master System, MegaDrive and even Saturn in Brazil.

They passed a city ordinance last month. No smoking cannabis in public. Not even eating gummies. $300 fine and misdemeanor charge if caught. People can walk down the street smoking cigs and tossing the butts all over, but God forbit someone take a couple puffs of their medication.

A Trump win is certainly a possibility. If he's reelected, 4 more years then no one has to worry about him being president ever again. I survived last time, I'll survive it if there's a next time. Don't know how anyone could vote for the guy, but I'm also not anyone else but me.
