Yes my sysnand and emunand dualboot works fine. got games installed on the both of them.
If I press R while booting gateway it will ask me to update gateway 3ds card each time.
I use latest GATEWAY ULTRA 3.7.2 BETA
pressing R will gives you the frameware update message for GW, you don't need it
what you want is put GW payload in luma to load when booting, this is how i remember it.

maybe it's another button when booting?
last time i used my GW card when i used to have A9LH, now i have B9S so i am not sure, maybe press down when booting and make sure you have emunand option checked in luma?

v2gw has been known to have intermittent boot issues sometimes. I've yet to figure out why. That said, hit up the MaxConsole forums (search maxconsole + gateway in google) and you'll see that someone posted an updated converted payload package. Now, it also has a bunch of steps for updating to 11.6 as well, but you can skip those and just use the updated payloads. Let us know if that solves the problem.

Your problems are because of the B9S Chainloading in Luma. Go to MaxConsoles. search for "gateway payload converted to b9s". The best option for a payload is there, however, it won't boot through Luma. But it will run fine through BootCTR9. You'll have to go to maxconsoles on your own as I don't think I can link it.

Use the "gw payload converted for b9s" from Maxconsoles along with the B9S compatible BootCTR9 https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-the-bootctr9-release-thread.435347/ To boot GW. It's a cleaner setup than the one commonly linked to here.

That should boot the red card. No blue card needed.

11.2 EmuNAND will not work online however or run a few of the newest games. IF you want to run GW online will need to update MOST of your EmuNAND. There is a tutorial here on doing it using NUSD.
https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-get-11-4-emunand-working-on-gateway-with-online-access.472624/

The tutorial was written when 11.4 was newest but there is an updated file list on page 9 for 11.6 titles. Or you could go to YouTube. Search "Nintendo 3DS GATEWAY EmuNAND on lasted firmware" (typo is in the actual youtube title)
a user there already has all the .CIA files in a pack and a user from the temp has done this method. Either of these methods will result in a 11.6/11.4 hybrid EmuNAND which will run all games and go online fine in GW Mode.

Your Blue GW Card isn't necessary to boot the Red Card but can still play NDS games like a champ. If you don't see the icon make sure the SD is inserted right and has all the right files on it.

If I were you, I would back up the blue card SD to PC. reformat in FAT32. MUST BE FAT32. Go to the Gateway-3ds homepage. Download the old 3.7.2 beta firmware there on the downloads page. Copy the contents of the Blue Card (R4i) folder to the SD root. Then move your ROMS and .SAV files from your Blue Card Backup to the root too. Homebrew too if you use it. This way you have a fresh start.

Also, if you are feeling brave, you could try the multi-kernel! Search for "playing gba with blue card" on Maxconsoles. Only the newest version on there still has a good link but that's good enough. The Multi Kernel is capable of running a few emulators from a handy boot menu on the Blue GW! I snipped the list below.

1.NDS ROM: Multimedia is Moonshell 2.10 & select *.nds will automatically load wood 1.62, put your rom in any directory(suggest root)
2.GW Installer:Run this software to crack 3DS.Insert the GW red card to run 3DS game.
3.GBA Emulator:load /__rpg/Apps/patch.pat as a patch,then choose a *.gba in any directory,press A until the game runs.
4.FC Emulator:Put your game into root:/SNES/,choose one in the emulator.
5.Other Emulators:Choose one game in the emulator then run it.Games can be put in any directory.
6.Cheat DB:Put a UTF-8 USRCHEAT.DAT to/__rpg/cheats/

The GBA roms work well using this method on my N3DS with the blue GW. I would like to add that while I use GW for extra storage too, GW does carry risks if you run it in SysNAND mode. Don't ever do that. GW has inferior protections. You could wind up on latest firmware with no b9s. Or bricked. It's good to have a NTRboot device handy just in case. (some blue GW cards DO work with NTRboot but not all) Also if it asks you to input a button combo to boot to SysNAND at boot, hit power.

Huh, I wasn't aware any of the new releases wouldn't run under 11.2. Then again, last time I checked was when I was finding cheats on Samus Returns, which worked fine. Which releases were updated?
you can find the .3DS version of any game with edited frameware requirement to run on low frameware.

Ahh, I think we're talking two different things here. There are carts that contain updates and carts where encryption LITERALLY requires a set firmware to run. As an example, Samus Returns requires 11.2 to run. However, a cart containing an update to say, 11.4, may only REQUIRE 11.2 to run. Gateway automatically bypasses the latter and allows for play without any patching on 11.2. My question stems around carts with encryption levels > 11.2, which to my knowledge, doesn't yet exist.

This has nothing to do with your luma or any B9/A9HL configuration!

The solution is on the official gateway website.
When you download GATEWAY ULTRA 3.7.2 or 4.2, there is a folder called "Blue Card Fix".
Install the cia in that folder in both, sysnand and emunand.
(This cia is basically an older version of de NDS whitelist, so all flashcards that were blocked in newer updates, like the Gateway Blue card, will work again)

That's all you have to do.

As an extra: You can partially update your emunand to 11.6.
By partially update your emunand, you can enjoy newest games and can play online again (without homebrew like ctr-httpwn) without any firmware spoofed versions, etc.
while you still can use your Gateway card.

Just google "Nintendo 3DS GATEWAY Emunand on lasted firmware 11.6.0-39" (there's a YouTube video as well).
Be careful to choose the correct region.

DON'T TRY THIS IN SYSNAND (only emunand)

No, some games require a spoofed firmware to function.

Why when with a simple update process you can skip this part and run anything. Plus get back online. Sounds like a half assed method.

I am saying, IF YOU RUN THE HYBRID SET UP EVERYTHING WORKS WITHOUT ANY FURTHER DICKING AROUND. Sure there are spoofed versions of games on some sites. If you just go 11.4/11.6 Everything works. Everything. You can use that method I linked on GBA temp or find a CIA pack with all the CIA files set up already on the YouTube link. I don't know why "people" confuse the issue sp much.. There is plenty of reasons not to use GW as a primary method. Just get the CIA pack, Install it to EmuNAND using the instructions. Presto, everything works. No spoofing bulllshit. No need for ctr-httpwn or anything else. And until another ninty update you can even go online in GW mode. Use Luma for everything and GW for games that you want to cheat in or that don't fit on the internal SD. You're good.. No more posts to confuse the issue. Don't try to exacerbate the situation.

My way runs everything. Spoofed, non spoofed. Online off line. Everything. It's easy. Use the YouTube link. And the blue card? It will work on luma no problem. Don't run the Blue card fix. It's not good.

I stopped using GW long time ago, but many people still don't want to use luma and stuck with GW, so they have to use edited version of new games, or use the 11.6 emunand method which not many people want to follow it because they are afraid to do something wrong.

Again, the question was simple. Which titles exactly? I'm genuinely curious, because I've still got a few titles left in my backlog for cheat hunting and I've got my Gateway Emunand (which I really only use for this purpose) running 11.2 and have yet to encounter a title that doesn't run unmodified.

Once again, we're probably in agreement here as my Gateway/Emunand are really only in use for cheat searching. B9S/Luma on 11.6 Sysnand is my primary use otherwise. I'm agreement with you provided you can answer the previous question. If there's no titles that yet require 11.4/6 for Gateway to launch natively, then I have no need yet to make any effort to update my Emunand, which is why I asked that initial question in the first place.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

I know this will merge, but figured I'd add: I'll be damned, looks like they had to edit the recent Pokemon releases. Makes sense, since I don't touch those as a more prolific cheat hunter than I has worked on those. Interesting, good to know. Shows how far behind on newer titles I am, I think the most recently worked for me was Samus Returns, which worked fine on a .3DS retail unmodded dump.
