Is there any software or way to custom button map the controls of a Wii U game?

I am not sure if it works with the Wii U gamepad or if you have to use a different controller though as it's purpose is to use other controllers like PS3 controller, Xbox 360 etc..., but it's the only way that you can remap buttons that I'm aware of.

I've used hid2vpad for a few injects but never tried it with a wii u title. Interesting....
