I bought this repair kit for my 360 six months ago to fix it from RROD'ing. It worked fine until tonight, and now it won't work at all anymore. Are there more reliable ways to fix my 360 to keep it from red ringing?

what is the prod. date of the 360?

If it died again that it's just biting the dust

you can try the penny fix for the sake of it (very cheap, nothing to loose, hence my reason to suggest it)

Google has your answers here

but meh it may work, but either way that 360 is gna eventually die of e74, maybe but surely

word of advice just sell it for parts, pick up an arcade or something and then your good to go again.

Once you get the red ring the GPU will keep moving from time to time.
If the thread in your GPU heat sink is fine then you only need to undo the screws so its just firm then tighten then in a crisscross motion untill GPU is seated again.
I drilled 4 holes through the outter case so i didnt have to pull it apart again and just put a couple of rubber gromits to neaten it up.
Now it only takes me a couple of minutes to fix

I *know* this doesn't help you, but it reminds me.

I did the washer/standoff fix, had a name, I forget. It too lasted for about 4-5 months. Night of Halo3 it dies. Master Chief streaming back down to EARTH and PIXELLATION everwhere!
I attempted to reflow with heat gun. After about the 5th try with moderate success but reoccurring graphical glitches which turned into 3RROD in between, I EXPLODED CAPS RRRRVYWHERE. and that was the end of my christmas day premium.

now I have a Falcon I replaced it with.

My ADViCE TO YOU. Do NOT throw away that Xbox360, even IF you blow caps doing crazy things. It is worth something. (If I had kept mine and had a little more patience, I may have been able to resurrect it. Meaning $$$ for Jtaggable console.)

Just some advice. Hang in there. When you are about ready to THROW it

, take a break/go to bed. I shouldn't have junked it. I COULD have at least used it for a live box. (Also, cover well with Tin foil.)
You might try get a modded reflow oven, or a locked in heat gun stand with WELL WELL covered caps and plastic. I think you actually do like cloth, plastic wrap, then tinfoil. Whatever. But stick with it, even if you buy a replacement arcade in the meantime.
