Hardware Is the NYKO 3ds Battery pack Vaporware?

Like the title says, this is the 3rd time it has been moved back . Now according to gamestop it will come in on the 12th of April.

There are several reviews of it (eg, http://www.joystiq.com/2011/03/31/3ds-powe...tery-of-tests/) and it's still listed on Amazon, So I highly doubt they wouldn't release it.

I actually bought one at Best Buy two days ago. It was listed as available on the site so someone went to the back room to get one.

Half of the thing is hollow.

They could have crammed a wireless charger into the hollow part.


New hack project, install a wireless charger into the nyko so it doesn't require the fugly base station.

That would have jacked the price up by another 10 bucks for every cell in there at retail.

The 2 batteries they got in there is fine the way it is.


There is a dimminishing return on power if you have too many cells in series if it is wired that way inside the pack.

This is something I will def be looking into. I plan on getting a 3DS in May after Nintendo gives us DSi-Ware to 3DS transfer and this will be one of my first purchases next to a case. Speaking of which: Can anyone who picked one up tell me if the 3DS can still fit into a case (the pocket sized ones sold at Best Buy and Gamestop/EB) with the extended battery attached?

I dont think the powerpak+3ds will fit in cases available right now which is a bother and waste of money actually. Id rather buy a portable charger than scratch the 3ds shell

Although it not that huge, you could get a XL case.
