The people who report having troubles are very likely having other unrelated issues. If the update stopped homebrew from working it would effect a much larger group. Thus far no updates have had any effect on vWii homebrew/backups, so it's perfectly safe to update to 4.0.2.

Hi there.

I'm a newbie here and so am I in the homebrew comunity. I would like you to help me in something maybe is too basic.

I only installed Homebrew Channel, Snes9x and Devolution on my Wii U. I'm not using it to load any ISOs (just my already bought GC games). In that process, have I done anything "dangerous" I should have in mind? I mean, I've read that playing with NAND and cIOs is something that if you don't do it right, you could brick the console.

I followed the tutorials but I didn't know exactly what I was doing xD. I only knew the things I could do after the process.

Anyway, I'm asking it because I don't know if I can update safely. If the only risk I can take is to lose the homebrew channel, it's ok. But I don't want to brick my console.

Thanks in advance and excuse me for so basic questions.

Update your Wii u, there hasn't been an update yet that has removed any homebrew

Then, having only installed homebrew (no cIOs), there is not any risk to brick the console with an update, right?
