Yes, it's worth it, mainly for USB loaders and the ability to emulate every Nintendo system except the Virtual Boy and Gamecube (which plays natively).

Worth it?

There really isn't a downside beyond being a little cautious with updating (and well, don't expect to get it repaired officially)

And it's pretty easy to do, couple of minutes to get the HBC installed and just a bit more steps if you want to do stuff like USB loading.

Depends on what type of mod you want.

if softmod then yes because its so easy and the benefits are staggering unlimited access to homebrew apps,

playing backups from hdd, custom menu, emulation of snes, gameboy, etc.

if hardmod then not necessarily since that cost $$$ and expertise.

What can I do with softmod, and what can I do with a hardmod?

Hardmod: Play backups of Wii and GC games from DVD (and USB if you buy a WODE).

Softmod: Play homebrew games, play games from other consoles (like SNES, Genesis, Gameboy, NES), play backups of Wii/GC games, change the look of your system menu, and a lot more.

Softmod is much better in terms of capability.

Yep. You can play backed up games, play DVDs and run homebrew.
Then again, if you softmod your Wii, your warranty is void. That's why you buy a Wode.

Me either. If the scene didn't exist, I likely would have sold the thing on ebay by now. Originally, I only got it so I could play Pokemon Battle Rev and MKWii online a few times a week with a friend.

With brew, I use it daily.
