since where have you seen a camera with a real time photo editing? I have never seen one so 1 point to the DSi

If you like to play longer games, get the DS Lite but there's a DSi battery that can let you play upto 20 hours and that's the DRAGON battery (www.sbdragon.com)

Camera and Sound are extra functions and should be out of the game. The one you need to focus are the whole structure of the DSi and its improvements.

One thing I noticed on the DSi is that it can be easily loose on the hinges because it wiggles toooo much when Im playing. You can get this on the DS Lite but it will take months before you notice the loose hinges.

I see a lot of improvements on the DSi and I dont play Guitar Hero. Pokemon is my only GBA and I have all the Pokemon I need so I ditch the GBA but kept them as collections.

Besides, I have my sis's DS Lite that I gave for her birthday so I can still play GBAxDS combo games. But for people who has no more than two DSs, Get the DS Lite if you want longer games. That's the only GAME of the DS competition

PS: I really love my DS Lite than my DSi.

I can't really tell what those are but it seems to be the inside...? My cracks are like part of the shell lol >_< Sucks.

Maybe I'll just go with DS Lite, DSi isn't really anything special...

...you can still get replacement shells. That site has tons of them. Some pretty cool ones too.

It's just a bit of a task to change them. But you'll be saving like, $130 or so. You just need the right screwdriver, which is like, $0.80 or something from there.

How hard is it to replace the DS shell? Any soldering needed or?... What will I need besides the screw driver, and shell? $20 won't hurt me I guess it's worth a shot

And has DealExtreme fixed their shipping speed? Last time I ordered from them was my R4, took a month or two or something like that.

Maybe I'll take the chance...heh >_

honestly by the time the DSi reaches any potential, it will be time for the next gen handhelds to come out.... the nds and psp have been out for a loooong time, they are due for replacements... not to mention microsoft will be making one now too.
anyway, I don't trust the DSi. upgradeable firmware means you could completely lose the ability to use flashcarts if you load certain games (i remember that on psp all the time, new games would come out and insist on a firmware upgrade before you could play them... they'd actually load the firmware update on the game itself to start it automatically)

That's true, I don't think the DSi will become anything special anyways.

What I might do is, take a trip to NintendoWorld and see if they still sell special DS Lites...or if anybody else knows they do...?

They sell clones for most of those shells on dealextreme.

A hell of a lot cheaper too. Dunno how great the quality is though, but they're there, and they're cheap. Here's a tutorial for replacing a shell on the DSL here, so check that out and see if it looks like it's too much or not. I was able to change the shell for my old DS Phat without much problem, it just took a long time. You just need to be really, really careful to make sure you don't break the ribbons or zap the circuits with static. I found that the build quality for my shell was somewhat less than the official quality, but it works fine. Here's a random cool one here:

and another one here:

Guess I might sound a bit like an advertiser, but whatever.

Oh yeah, and you should probably get these too:

You're gonna need the special screwdriver to open it.

u could either get a case for it to keep it safe or go to gamestop give them the dsi and alot of other stuff that adds up enough to get a dsi

I was willing to pay them to fix it. To my surprise they fixed it for free.

That's only if you DS Lite is still under warranty.

Normally that would be the case, but my DS Lite certaintly wasn't. It was like 2 years old. I got a launch one. I specifically mentioned it was out of warranty also and never provided a proof of purchase like a receipt.

Nintendo classified it as a 'minor repair' and never bothered billing me for it.

What do you mean by case? If housing shell you mean, no because I would fail miserably on that. Case that just holds it together...then like what exactly? Right now I have a nerf armor on it...hoping it doesn't fall apart...

Hmmm..I wonder if I went to NW if I bought a DS there it would come with box etc. :/

Ah that changes everything...maybe it is worth it now..but still...$270

Unless the above means I don't need the M3i...which seems like I don't but will still need to buy something eventually..

Okay let's do the calculations here,

DSi would be 169.99 + shipping would be about 175
M3i would be about let's say more or less 35$ (Free shipping) when it comes to market
Use the old SD cards, so that's free
Use GBA, NES, SNES emu on PSP.. so free
Let's say there's gonna be a cart so that you could play DSi wares and exclusive games for free soon (THEORETICALLY) which cost about 40 more or less..

That's about 250$.. and don't worry it will still be worth it.. =] You don't need to pay anything after you get those

And yea it may cost a lot lol... but hey, "what is money when your not happy"?
