Yes it does work but my steps are made from a o3DS owner (I only got a o3ds xD). Im surprised it actually worked for you. So to sort out your issues, Unlink your nands then all you have to do is hold L while you turn on and it will go straight to HBL no need for Browserhax. Once your in HBL simple Hold L while opening rxTools from HBL. You should get the First time screen if you havent got it already or else you will go to a Menu Screen. Press A to open rxMode hold R while you press (Y?) to open EmuNAND and you will actually get into it. Now change your EmuNANDs theme to anything else for now. That will remove MenuHax from EmuNAND. Now to open EmuNAND just power on your 3DS no need to Hold buttons.@ShinyMK
I followed this guide from beginning to end on a n3ds xl but i didnt know it was mostly for o3ds xD
Well I have to say rxtools kinda works with n3ds xl but its extremely glitchy and i cant even make it to show me the "first time screen". I just saw it once and i think it was luck lol
Just wondering, does rxtools work on n3dsl? I used latest version (nightly) and i can load rxtools on emunand by loading sysnand (holding R) then go with the browserhax thing and as HBL its loading, just leave it and don't press L as usual, but wait until it reboots and the rxtools banner appears then you hold R. I don't even know why but this has a 50% chance of getting me on emunand. I know im on emunand as on settings i see rx-e.
I would be happy with this setting if i could get to install the fbi inject thing to install cia games but I really don't want to use pastafw on sysnand as i dont want to brick it lol.
Any suggestions guys?
I just want to install cia games and ram &rom hack them on emunand xD
Lol theres no such thing as Unlinking on Certain Nands just unlinking like the Chapter says will have both your Nands unlinked. Now just power on and go into Settings if it says RX-E/U/J <Version> then just Update. If it says Ver. instead of RX-E/U/J then your not on EmuNAND. Also no I think you fucked up somewhere but honestly im unsure where as I have never seen this issue appear. Can you confirm your nands are Unlinked using the Nands chapter? Also what EXACTLY happens when you hold R?Yo, this is a great tutorial, really helped me out! I tried two others and didn't get anywhere, this one was perfect.
Got a question though, to link my Nintendo ID safely and update the system I unlinked my NANDS on sysNAND but not my emuNAND, am I supposed to do both before updating? Also when I hold r and boot into sysNAND I get stuck in sysNAND and lose the MenuHax and the only way I can get out and back into emuNAND is by using the method in chapter II again, is this supposed to happen or have I fucked up? Cheers again.
Sound ok, I'll give it a try. And yeah they are unlinked as far as I'm aware, I've done the process twice now and it still does the same, when I hold R it boots into sysNAND and it works like nomral and then if I turn off it just boots into sysNAND when I don't press anything and I cant open homebrew by holding L either. Strange but I've played a bunch of games earlier today and they all worked fine so I'm not that fussed. Cheers for the reply man!Lol theres no such thing as Unlinking on Certain Nands just unlinking like the Chapter says will have both your Nands unlinked. Your issue is that you need to Unlink your Nands then come back to the step your having trouble on.Things have been going great following this guide so far but I'm having a strange issue and I don't want to continue until I understand this one. Great guide though.
I should note that I have done everything in the guide so far except for Chapter V-Step 10 and Chapter VII.
When I boot into sysNand and try to change the theme, it will change except the next time I boot into sysNand, the theme is back to the default.
Is something broken?
Also, seemingly unrelated, I notice that every time I exit "System Settings", it reloads the entire OS. In other words, just by exiting depending on whether I old L, R or nothing at all I go back to sys/emu/hbl.
Do I have concerns I need to deal with before I go any further?
Never launch HBL inside of EmuNAND it can only really cause bad things. All you need to do is Hold L while you power on your system. Thanks to this guide I successfully acquired cfw
Only question being how do I access homebrew for my emunand on 10.5? I tried installing hblauncher_loader's CIA via FBI, but when I launched it the screen just blinks red and black.
@ShinyMK
Can you confirm that you have all the files from the .zip file replaced by the custom files provided next to it in the Download Center? Its vital that all the files in the second zip are replaced with the ones in Starter.zip. You CAN just rename your current HBL.3dsx file to BootHBL.3dsx to keep your Custom HBL but until you get everything working I would just back it up and replace everything for now.I followed the guide exactly. But something is wrong. The system doesn't boot into emunand when you power on and don't press anything. Instead it goes into this screen.

In order for me to get into emunand, I have to go into rxtools, press A, then press Y. Anyway to fix this?
So it boots into EmuNAND? Have u downloaded the zip file that you are to replace the files with? Its Next to the Starter.zip download. Download it and extract and replace the files it asks to replace and you should be set.So firstly thank you for the awesome guide, I was following another guide before, but when it came to getting rxtools to work it just wouldn't without launching it through the browser, your guide fixed that issue for me entirely, so thanks!
Secondly, I don't know if it's because of the things I did on the other guide (https://gbatemp.net/threads/tutorial-installing-rxtools-custom-firmware-3ds-and-2ds.390867/), this is a good guide too by the way, it just didn't work for me with rxtools, but anyway, my system doesn't boot up to emuNAND, it boots up to sysNAND instead. I'm using an o3DS on ver. 9.2U, the NANDs are already unlinked, this was done before I tried using the rxtools from this guide. After working on this all day, I'm just tired and figured it'd be best to just ask for help if at all possible, it doesn't NEED to boot to the emuNAND I can easily just switch between the two for now, but convenience. So thanks again for the awesome guide, and any help is very appreciated.

So do you still need help or?Well I need help... I was following the tutorial and I finished creating the emuNAND but i restarted the console by mistake and now i can't get into HaxMenu or rxTools starting menu and I did copied everything again to SD card and i did replace the files on Nintendo folder what can i do now?
EDIT: I Managed to run rxTools over HBL and now i can't find the FBI numbers or something and i noticed that i can't go to emunand by just letting it boot :/
2ndEDIT: Omg i'm so retard... i didn't saw that modified boot.3dsx... and I decided to star over...
Well I just saw that there was 2 .zips that i had to extract at the beginning sooooo... nah I think not but thx at the same I will say something at the endSo do you still need help or?
Step 4 is due to your EmuNAND having MenuHax installed on it which is why you need to hold a few buttons.I want to indicate the Chapter V of the tutorial:
4) Scroll all the way down and you should see rxTools. Hold L while you open the rxTools HBL App and you should boot into a Menu of sorts. (It doesn't work in that way it was once and never came again because it was booting again back to HBL until I tried to holding L & R while booting the 3DS and it came the Menu of Sorts and is Advanced Options)
5) You should see it say Inject FBI click it then Press X to "Check TMD Only". Take note of your Region and the 4 character number. (Actually it says, Install FBI because I confused the Injection menu XD and before Checking the TMD, it says Y for EmuNAND or X for SysNAND)
7) Again, Boot into HBL and hold L while booting into rxTools from HBL. Go to Advanced Settings and Inject FBI but this time press Y not X and it should Inject. Now it will ask to Keep or Delete. Press B to keep; (Again, there's a part it says if install to SysNAND or EmuNAND, that got me in that time but I made it great )
Unfortuanetely yes. But hey, Doing this will allow you to get Free games if you're a PiraterDo I have to re-download my eshop games? I can't link my NNID. If I follow your solution, does that mean I must re-download all my games from the eshop? It's like 6gb worth. It'll take forever
