Wow guys. I've heard of being unhappy with the voice work, but this is just getting ridiculous. Seriously, just play and enjoy the game that was made without nitpicking it to hell and back. Otherwise you'll eventually find that after all that work, you just don't really want to play the game anymore.

I mean, you are pretty much making it 50% Japanese again as it is. As it stands, you might as well have just gotten somebody to do a translation of the (J) games if you keep on this pace.

Undubbing. Okay, everybody does that for games that they can. It is just about personal preference I guess.
Swapping out names. A little extreme in my opinion, as these are going to be the names you see in the translated Anime too. It isn't like you can just make them kind of go away.
Swapping out images in the game. Now you are changing far more than the average undub and such. As I said, at this point, you might as well have just learned Japanese with the amount that you are untranslating.

Just my opinion of course, but I feel that people need to learn to appreciate the work that goes into localizing games a little bit more.

I think you misunderstand.

It's not really like there is a huge problem with the localization. This is how I look at it. I've watched over 100 episodes of the anime so far. I watch it in japanese with english subs since that's the only way to watch it in the US. So I'm used to the characters having certain voices and used to having certain names. It's just a matter of wanting consistency. You attach a voice and a name to a character after watching a show for that long.

It's not like we couldn't play the game as is, but if there are talented people who know how to tailor the game back to what you are already used to, why not go for it?

Also as far as changing the text in the hissatsu notebook that Endou keeps, I don't really mind either way. I get that making it Japanese would better reflect that only Endou can read it since we can't, but they are in Japan anyways so you would just assume they can all read japanese. Same applies to the football frontier bracket. I like being able to read all the text that's on there. The only problem would be name inconsistencies. If you change Royal Academy back to Teikoku Gakuen or even just Teikoku Academy it would be inconsistent. Again I don't really care either way if you change those images or not. I appreciate whatever effort goes into this project. I won't ask for anything more than what you are willing to do.

I can understand that to a certain degree. I've never been much into anime and manga (I did try, just couldn't get sucked in), so I can't relate too much in that respect. As the series gets localized though (which it is, at least in America I believe), and the possibility of more Inazuma Eleven games lands on the horizon (you know, maybe, dependent on sales and popularity), those names that don't land with what you know will begin to pop up more and more.

As I said, it isn't like the names will just disappear. Like I said though, I don't care much about that. It is more the fact that more and more of the (J) game is starting to get inserted. Without control, you may just end up with a game with the tutorials and menus in English, and the rest reverted to Japanese.

I thought that the names and undub would be a good stopping point as to not completely shit all over the work the localization team went through to try to make the series more popular with non-Japanese audiences.

It is up to the fans in the end though. It just feels like a little too much to keep going past the undub and names.

Mm.. the propose was only changing CERTAIN images, NOT ALL.
What we want to do is that nearly all images will match with what we are changing.

Is just that.. if you are playing with our patch and when that images pop up, appear other names, the thing will be more confusing.

I also think it's better if the book English graphics stay in English, because after all the Japanese can read and understand them - so everyone can read Endou's book, and you as the player, representing Endou, are supposed to be able to do it as well. So it would be annoying discovering that you don't know what the book says, although you'd like to now.

And it'd be nice to be actually read the names of the various schools competing - perhaps you could just change them to be consistent with your translation?

There is a big issue, in the book, appears the name Dave, but the real name is Daisuke, and editing a image like that is incredible difficulty.
Change some things at this point is nearly impossible, but well.. we need to find what is better to do.

PD: I need more opinions, to choose what to do with this problem.
PD2: Anyone knows a tool to identify fonts in a image?

It doesn't matter. Having one English name won't ruin the whole game.

Hello! I registered here just because of this project. Keep up the good work! You're making many many people happy!

About images like that- I'm actually an experienced digital artist http://namie-kun.deviantart.com/ and imitating fonts is easy for me C: I'm willing to volunteer if you need some image editing?

That way we could keep the image in English while still having the Japanese name

YES! I KNEW there would be more people like me that wanted AT LEAST to have a japanese audio option in the game! (Was so excited to play it in english but as soon as the dubbed intro came on....ugh) As a guy who loves the anime and the very talanted seiyuu, i 100% back this project! and i will love you with mouth forever when its completed!

This thread reaffirms my faith in humanity! God speedo!

Agreed.

All that left are little things like names? did you succeed in unpacking the files you had problem with?
Can you make a 80%~ done patch available yet?
ETA of 100% ?
thanks.

@Nathan Drake,
Look it's not only becouse people are used to japanese names and voices. I think that this localization has a very big flaw. This games story is localized in Japan so characters are japanese. Not only that. Games title is Inazuma Eleven, not Lightning Eleven, also the school they are attending to is Raimon, not Thunder Gate. Playing 3rd game you are representation of Japan, so why the hell should members of this team have english names? I don't really think authors of this localisation thinked through with this changes.

I'm interested in your help, because if you help us, we can put japanese names with english text and all will be fixed, lol.
Send me a PM with your email and/or enter IRC to contact you.

- What's left now is finish it the script (we almost done).
- Edit images.

And that's all.
Isn't good if we launch a incomplete patch, because we want to launch a 1.0 (stable) and not a 0.8 version.

this also lessens the chance of inazuma eleven 2 and 3 being localized in inazuma eleven 2 you are traveling around japan they just cant change it to europe and inazuma eleven 3 you repersent japans national team
