I mean how to play online, you can't play online unless your game is not up to date.

Did gateway support downloading game updates? If so, and this is my limited knowledge, if eshop is blocked now, would it be possible to install an update in any other way? Also, I feel that emunand will eventually come out for 9.3+, just it will take some time. But, I don't know.

Probably they'll wait massive selling recod for new 3ds. Then they'll relase it

No, I don't think so. Gateway's pretty honest, not in it for the money, that much at least. At the moment they're either waiting out on nintendo to patch things, or the more likely option, they're still stabilising the update. There's no reason they'd wait for N3ds sales when the update also works on OG 3ds's, XL's, and 2ds's.

You may be able to install game updates by installing the updates with cia files in the dev menu, but I expect you will need the latest firmware version to play online anyway.

So I guess they bricked people's 3DSs for no reason, right?
Sorry, haven't kept up with all of gateway's history, did they ever release an intentional brick? Or, was it something that was overlooked/done incorrectly?

That's what I was wondering! But, I'm guessing updates might encrypt to the 3ds's data. And .cia files probably work much differently than updates. And, I can still go online on SSB4 on 9.2, at least last time I checked.

You can install game updates via .cia and if U look around U can already find them.

So far Nintendo's ploicy has not to require formware update specifically for online play. As long as you have the game and required update you can play online.....we will see if this changes but I doubt it will as it may not be easy for Nintendo to implement in this generation.

They intentionally bricked people with Gateway clones, or with modified files. Some people had modified Gateway files, with legitimate Gateway cards and their 3DSs got bricked too. This caused them to gain the nickname "Brickway".

i thought everybody knew cocktails are like 75% ice
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Yeah but not like this.
  • Veho @ Veho:
It's not like they're complaining that their Slurpee is 99% ice or something, but if the cocktail calls for "shot of vodka, shot of vermouth, shot of gin, shot of Campari, three shots of juice, squirt of lemon" and ends up being a thimbleful of booze, that's a problem.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
the funny thing is cocktails in norway are only allowed to have 1 20ml shot of booze
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    so..... yeah
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
we're used to only having a thimbleful of booze
  • Veho @ Veho:
    Booo.

same thing if you want whisky on the rocks or something, you can't get a double
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
but you could buy as many shots of whisky (or anything else) as you want and ask for a glass of ice and pour them in
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
    it's dumb

    Maybe.

There was a comparison of the number of Ibuprofen poisonings before and after they limited the maximum dosage per box or per pill (i'll look that up). No limit on the number of boxes you can still buy as many as you want, so people argued it was pointless.
  • Veho @ Veho:
But the number of (accidental) poisonings dropped because drinking an entire package of ibuprofen pills went from "I need a new liver" to "I need a new box of Ibuprofen".
  • Veho @ Veho:
Here we have ketoprofen that used to be prescription-only because of the risk of toxic dosages, but then they halved the dose per pill and sell them in bottles of six pills apiece instead of twenty and it doesn't need a prescription any more. Yes you can buy more than one bottle but people simply don't.

Usually accidentally overdose of ibuprofen here is from people taking like cold medicine then ibuprofen for a headache and the combination is over what they need
